Under UV-laser excitation, the Porites coral from Longwan bay waters, Hainan Island, could emit yellow-green fluorescence. After fitting the data of the fluorescent intensity (FI) of the coral with the rainfall (RF) in nearshore area of Qionghai, a good relationship between FI and RF was found with a linear formula of RF= 889 - 4. 54 FI and a correlation coefficient of 0.78. Based on this formula, the rainfall sequence from 1982 to 1997 has been reconstructed. The peak annual rainfall is usually related to global El'nino events. By fitting the data of the fluorescent intensity and the runoff (RO), a quadric formula was obtained as RO = - 0.0279FI2 - 18.59 FI- 950.9 with a correlation coefficient of 0.74. The reconstructed runoff sequence from 1982 to 1997 coincided with the rainfall occurrence . The results indicate that flood and drought incidents in coastal areas of the south China are affected by global change to a great extent.

Chlorophyll-a(Chl-a) blooms caused by typhoon Namtheun(2004) were investigated by combining multi-satellite observations with Argo float profiles and ship-based *** Namtheun-induced upwelling and vertical mixing caused extreme sea surface cooling(-4°C) and significant Chl-a blooms(0.1.3.mg/m3.,while persistent high magnitude was co-located with the pre-existing cyclonic circulation(SSHA <-100 cm).The results indicate that both the typhoon’s translation speed and pre-existing cold eddy may play important roles in enhancing the Chl-a *** study implies that to gain deeper insights into ocean surface responses to typhoons,their subsurface dynamics need to be analyzed through more in situ and satellite-based observations and physical and biological models.

The lattice parameters, band structure, density of state and elastic constant of RE-doped CeO2 (RE=Sm, Gd, Dy), the buffer material for coated HTS conductors, are calculated using the plane-wave method with pseudopotentials based on the density functional theory (DFT) of first-principle. The rule and mechanism of the effect of rare earth impurity on the critical thickness of the CeO2 buffer layer are investigated. It is found that, in the range of the calculation, the changes of the lattice volume V and elastic constant E of CeO2 with the impurity are mainly determined by the increased electrons ne of the system. The relationship of the elastic constant E and increased electrons ne is established. It is indicated that the critical thickness of the CeO2 single buffer layer doped with Sm, Gd, and Dy may be enhanced by 22%, 43. and 3.%, respectively.

Hemispherical asymmetry in core dynamics induces degree-1 pressure variations at the core mantle boundary （CMB）, which in turn deforms the overlaying elastic mantle, at the same time keeps center of mass of the whole earth stationary in space. We develop a systematic procedure to deal with the degree-1 CMB pressure loading. We find by direct calculation a surprisingly negative load Love number h1=-1.425 for vertical displacement. Further analysis indicates that the negative hi corre- sponds to thickening above the positive load that defies intuition that pressure inflation pushes over- laying material up and thins the enveloping shell. We also redefine the pressure load Love numbers in general to enable comparison between the surface mass load and the CMB pressure load for the whole spectrum of harmonic degrees. We find that the gravitational perturbations from the two kinds of loads at degrees n〉l are very similar in amplitude but opposite in sign. In particular, if the CMB pressure variation at degree 2 is at the level of -1 hpa/yr （1 cm water height per year）, it would perturb the variation of earth＇s oblateness, known as the J2, at the observed level.

The titled complex has been synthesized by the reaction of sodium sulfo-salicylate with lanthanum and yttrium perchlorate. The crystal structure has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffractometry. The crystal is monoclinic with space group C2/c. The unit cell parameters are as follows: a=16.289(8), b=18.3.3.8), c=22.044(8) A, β=106.3.(2)°, V=63.4(6) A3. Z=4 and Dc=1.764 g/cm3. The structure was solved by direct method. The least-square refinement based on 3.76 observed reflections [F > 6σ(F)] converged to a final R=8.6% and F(000) is 3.48. Yttrium ion with eight-coordinate is located in central of the molecule, the two lanthanum ions with ten-coordinate are located at the two sides of yttrium ion. There are two positions for Na in the molecule, one is in the C2 axis with six coordinate, the other one is in a general position with five-coordinate.

This letter obtains a typhoon-like vortex solution by solving the Bragg-Hawthorne *** solution describes spiral paths of fluid material element on the Bernoulli surface,whereas some new exact solutions are obtained which are bounded in the whole *** first one is a continued umbrella vortex solution,which is a typhoon-like *** second one is a multi-planar solution,which is periodic in *** each layer,there is an umbrella vortex solution similar to the first *** above explicit solutions can be applied to the study of radial structure of *** the solutions and the approaches used in the present work can also be applied to other complex flows.
