Aerial algae on the surface of carbonate rocks at the Stone Forest, Shilin County, Yunnan province, china, and their bioerosion were investigated in the field and studied in the laboratory in detail. Through the observation, identification and statistics of more than one hun- dred algal samples and rock samples with the optical microscopes (stereomicroscope, biological microscope) and the scanning electronic microscope (SEM), the relationships between erosional forms on the surface of the Stone Forest and algae and/or algal communities and the genetic mechanism for the formation of erosional forms were analyzed. It is suggested that aerial algae play an active role in bioerosive processes that may affect the formation of karst erosional forms. These effects include both direct and indirect ones. The direct effect is the initiative control (algal shape-controlling role) of algae on the formation of karst forms of various scales, mostly mi- cro-scale (3.) and minor-scale (10-3.10-1m) erosional forms. The algal shape-controlling roles can be divided into the algal individual shape-controlling role and the algal community shape-controlling role. The former mostly controls the formation of micro-scale erosional forms, while the latter mostly controls the formation of micro-scale and smaller minor-scale erosional forms. The indirect effect refers to the promoting role of algae in the formation of karst forms, which may affect the formation of karst forms of all types and scales. The bioerosion of algae accelerates the weathering process of the whole Stone Forest karst landforms.

Analysis on the Influence of Spring Low Temperature on the Agriculture and the Formation Reason in liaoning province in 2010

[Objective] The research aimed to study the influence of spring low temperature on the agriculture and the formation reason in liaoning province in 2010. [Method] Based on the synoptics analysis principle, by analyzing the atmospheric circulation situation and satellite cloud map, the influence of spring low temperature on the agriculture and the formation reason of low temperature weather in liaoning province during April-May, 2010 were discussed. [Result] The high-altitude situation analysis showed that it was two-trough-two-ridge situation in the high latitude of Eurasia in April, 2010. Ural Mountains high-pressure ridge strengthened to move eastward. Lake Baikal cold air went down toward the southeast along the front of ridge and strengthened into the cold vortex. liaoning was in the front of cold vortex. Affected by the cold vortex, the temperature in liaoning area was low. In the first dekad of May, 2010, the activity of cold air was frequent. There were two times cold vortex influence, and the temperature was still low. In the later period of middle dekad of May, the warm ridge entered, and the temperature rose. The high-altitude trough and the low-level jet were the main system and the dynamic condition of precipitation generation respectively. The cold vortex was the main reason of spring continuous low temperature generation, and the secondary reason was the more precipitation. [Conclusion] The research provided the reference basis for the prevention and prediction of spring low temperature in liaoning province.

BACKGROUND: It has shown that magnetic field can improve blood circulation, decrease blood viscosity, inhibit free radicals, affect Ca2+ flow in nerve cells, control inflammatory and immunological reaction, and accelerate nerve cell regeneration. In addition, protective effect of magnetic field, which acts as an iatrophysics, on ischemic brain tissues has been understood gradually. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of rotating magnetic field (RMF) on volume of cerebral infarction, cerebral edema and metabolism of free radicals in rats after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. DESIGN: Randomized controlled animal study. SETTING: Rehabilitation Center of disabled children, Liaoniang; Department of Rehabilitation, the Second Affiliated Hospital, china Medical University; Department of Rehabilitation Physiotherapy, the First Affiliated Hospital, china Medical University. MATERIALS: A total of 70 healthy Wistar rats aged 18-20 weeks of both genders were selected and randomly divided into 3.groups: sham operation group with 12 rats, control group with 20 rats and treatment group with 3. rats. The treatment group included 4 time points: immediate reperfusion with 6 ones, 6-hour reperfusion with 20 ones, 12-hour reperfusion with 6 ones and 18-hour reperfusion with 6 rats. Main instruments were detailed as follows: magnetic head of rotating magnetic device was 6 cm in diameter; magnetic induction intensity at the surface of magnetic head was 0.25 T in silence; the maximal magnetic induction intensity was 0.09 T at the phase of rotation; the average rotating speed was 2500 r per minute. METHODS: The experiment was carried out in the china Medical University in March 2003. Focal cerebral ischemic animal models were established with modified Longa’s method. An ionic liquid (IL) based on lactate,1-butyl-3.methylimidazolium lactate ([C4mim][Lact]),has been prepared and characterized by 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).Since the IL can form strong hydrogen bonds with water,trace water is a problematic impurity in the *** the standard addition method (SAM),the density,refractive index and surface tension of [C4mim][Lact] were measured in the temperature range (3.8.15 to 3.3.15 ± 0.05) *** the basis of the experimental data,the parachor and molar volume for [C4mim][Lact],and the molecular volume V m,surface tension γ,molar enthalpy of vaporization △lgHm 0,refractive index n D,and the thermal expansion coefficients,for the homologues [Cnmim][Lact] (n=2,3.4,5,and 6) were estimated using semi-empirical *** estimated values are in good agreement with the experimental data.

An analysis of major and trace element geochemistry and SHRIMP U-Pb zircon dating of mafic, intermediate, and felsic rocks from the Mianning metamorphic complex of Si- chuan province was conducted. One of our conclusions is that a majority of the zircons crystal- lized between 721 and 773.Ma in a magmatic regime. The complexes contain early to late Pa- leo-proterozoic relict zircons from ancient continental crust. The oldest age, 2468 Ma, may rep- resent the basement of the Yangtze block. Overgrowth zircon rims and palingenetic zircons have been observed and dated, and are believed to have formed after crystallization, during Paleozoic and Mesozoic metamorphic-anatexis. We also conclude that depletion of Nb, Ta, HREE, in a spider-diagram normalized to primitive mantle and calc-alkaline association, implies that they formed in island-arc or under-plating settings.

Re-Os dating of gold-bearing arsenopyrite of the Maoling gold deposit, liaoning province, Northeast china and its geological significance

The Maoling gold deposit, one of the large gold deposits in eastern liaoning province, NE china, is an ar- senopyrite-disseminated gold deposit with a resource of ap- proximately 25 t Au and an average Au grade of 3.2 g/t. Six arsenopyrites closely related to Au mineralization of the Maoling gold deposit are dated by Re-Os technique and de- fine a Re-Os isochron with an age of 23.6±140 Ma, which suggests that the deposit was formed in the Paleoproterozoic era rather than in the Indosinian period as some early re- searchers suggested. High initial 187Os/188Os ratio of 1.3.±0.48 indicates a crustal derivation of the ore-forming material of the deposit, which may be derived from rocks of the Gaixian formation of the Liaohe Group. Furthermore, the result also implies that the age of the Gaixian Formation in the Maoling district is older than 23.6±140 Ma.

AIM: To investigate the association of the cyclooxygenases-2 (COX-2) polymorphisms and susceptibility to gastric cancer (GC) by means of meta-analysis. METHODS: Publications addressing the association between polymorphisms of COX-2 and susceptibility to GC were selected from the MEDLINE, EMBASE and CBMdisc databases. Data was extracted from the studies by 2 independent reviewers. The meta-analyses were performed by RevMan 5.0.23. From these data, odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence interval (CI) was ***: Ten studies were retrieved reporting a total of 11 COX-2 polymorphisms. Carriers of -765C, -1195A, -1290G, *243.T alleles and *429TT genotype revealed increased risk for GC (OR = 1.71, 95% CI: 1.01-2.90, P = 0.05; OR = 1.58, 95% CI: 1.05-2.3., P = 0.03. OR = 1.55, 95% CI: 1.01-2.3., P = 0.05; OR = 2.62, 95% CI: 1.20-5.73. P = 0.02 and OR = 0.74, 95% CI: 0.59-0.95, P = 0.02, respectively). CONCLUSION: The -765C, -1195A, -1290G, *243.T alleles and *429TT genotype of COX-2 polymorphisms were determined a significant association with susceptibility to GC.

The species diversity of fusulinaceans and high-frequency sea-level changes in the Carboniferous-Permian boundary section at Xikou, Zhen'an County,Shaanxi province, china

The study on the interrelation between sea-level changes and biodiversity with its evolu-tion has great significance for understanding the impact of global changes on organic evolution and exploring the inherent laws of life-environment coevolution in geological history. In this paper, the stratigraphic distribution of fusulinacean fauna in the Carboniferous-Permian boundary section at Xikou, Zhen’an County, Shaanxi province, is analyzed quantitatively, and the relationship between the species diversity of fusulinaceans and relative sea-level changes is discussed. As a whole, the spe-cies numbers of fusulinacean fauna experience a rapid increase and an obvious decline in Xikou, Zhen’an County, from the Late Carboniferous to the Early Permian. There is a significant increase in species diversity around the Carboniferous-Permian boundary, which is one of the biggest bio-events of the fusulinacean fauna, and represents the radiation of Pseudoschwagerininae subfamily in the studied area. Integrated fusulinacean species diversity into sequence stratigraphic framework, de-tailed study suggests that the species diversity of the fusulinaceans is closely related to its relative stratigraphic location, and is essentially controlled by the sea-level changes, especially by the high-frequency sea-level changes. Generally, the species diversity of fusulinaceans is low, and the number of first and last appearance datum is small in the lower unit of high-frequency depositional cycle formed during the quick rise of the sea level; whereas the species diversity of fusulinaceans is high, and the number of first and last appearance datum is large in the upper unit of high-frequency cycle formed during the slow fall of the sea level. Within the third-order depositional sequence, the species diversity of the fusulinaceans at the first flooding surfaces and the maximum flooding surfaces is low, and it increases upward. Fluids and noble gases of mantle-derived materials are important tracers forthe mantle information. Compositions of primary fluids and noble gases in mantle-derived mineralsfrom the Yishu area, Shandong province, china, were tested by the methods of heat-bursting andheat-melting respectively. The fluids are mainly composed of CO_2, CO and H_2, which account forabout 90% of the total, and are similar to the mantle-derived rocks from other areas of easternchina; ratios of ~{3.e/~4He in almost all samples range from 0.82 Ra to 2.74 Ra, whereas^(40)Ar/^({3.)Ar from 299.5 to 758.8. Both ranges are much lower than those of the typical oceanmantle-derived samples (such as MORB) and primarily reflect the influences of the atmosphericcomponents and the radiogenic isotopes. Ratios of C/~{3.e range from 27.6 x 10~9 to 1050 x 10~9,N_2/Ar from 927 to 56612, and N_2/~{3.e from 2.5 x 10~9 to 27 x 10~9, similar to those in westernUnited States and New Zealand which belong to the tectonic plate collision regions. The ratios fallin the intersect of mantle-crust-atmosphere in the comprehensive tracer-charts, reflecting theinfluences of the atmosphere and the crusts with organic components. Our results suggest that thecomposition of the primary fluids and the isotopic ratios of the noble gases may either reflect theevolution process of mantle-derived rocks connected with the rise and eruption of magma, or theinfluence of the ancient subduction-plate on the continental mantle of this region.
