A hybrid memory architecture supporting fine-grained data migration

Hybrid memory systems composed of dynamic random access memory(DRAM)and Non-volatile memory(NVM)often exploit page migration technologies to fully take the advantages of different memory *** previous proposals usually migrate data at a granularity of 4 KB pages,and thus waste memory bandwidth and DRAM *** this paper,we propose Mocha,a non-hierarchical architecture that organizes DRAM and NVM in a flat address space physically,but manages them in a cache/memory *** the commercial NVM device-Intel Optane DC Persistent Memory Modules(DCPMM)actually access the physical media at a granularity of 256 bytes(an Optane block),we manage the DRAM cache at the 256-byte size to adapt to this feature of *** design not only enables fine-grained data migration and management for the DRAM cache,but also avoids write amplification for Intel Optane *** also create an Indirect Address Cache(IAC)in Hybrid Memory Controller(HMC)and propose a reverse address mapping table in the DRAM to speed up address translation and cache ***,we exploit a utility-based caching mechanism to filter cold blocks in the NVM,and further improve the efficiency of the DRAM *** implement Mocha in an architectural *** results show that Mocha can improve application performance by 8.2%on average(up to 24.6%),reduce 6.9%energy consumption and 25.9%data migration traffic on average,compared with a typical hybrid memory architecture-HSCC.

The challenge of high temperatures in deep mining remains harmful to the health of workers and their production efficiency The addition of phase change materials (PCMs) to filling slurry and the use of the cold storage function of these materials to reduce downhole temperatures is an effective approach to alleviate the aforementioned ***–CaCl_(2)·6H_(2)O composite PCM was prepared in the *** composition,phase change latent heat,thermal conductivity,and cemented tailing backfill (CTB) compressive strength of the new material were *** heat transfer characteristics and endothermic effect of the PCM were simulated using Fluent *** results showed the following:(1) The new paraffin–CaCl_(2)·6H_(2)O composite PCM improved the thermal conductivity of native paraffin while avoiding the water solubility of CaCl_(2)·6H_(2)O.(2) The calculation formula of the thermal conductivity of CaCl_(2)·6H_(2)O combined with paraffin was deduced,and the reasons were explained in principle.(3) The“enthalpy–mass scale model”was applied to calculate the phase change latent heat of nonreactive composite PCMs.(4)The addition of the paraffin–CaCl_(2)·6H_(2)O composite PCM reduced the CTB strength but increased its heat absorption *** research can give a theoretical foundation for the use of heat storage backfill in green mines.

Tunable luminescence of Bi^(3+)/Eu^(3+)-doped SiO_(2)-Al_(2)O_(3)-MCO_(3)(M=Ca,Sr,Ba) glasses for WLED

In this work,a group of Bi^(3+)/Eu^(3+)-doped SiO2-Al_(2)O_(3)-MCO_(3)(M=Ca,Sr,Ba) glasses were fabricated through melt-quenching *** structure and photoluminescence characters were studied via Xray diffraction(XRD),UV-Vis transmission spectra(TRS),excitation spectra,emission spectra and decay *** XRD results show that no nano-crystal phase forms in glass matrix with different doping concentrations of Bi^(3+)and Eu^(3+)*** regulating optical alkalinity value,the intensity of Bi^(3+)ions increases and the peak position shifts to red *** Bi^(3+)/Eu^(3+) co-doped glasses show a blue-white-yellow-red luminescence by changing concentration of Eu^(3+) *** transfer efficiency from Bi^(3+) to Eu^(3+) can reach as high as 10.54%.At 423 K, the emission intensity of 55SiO_(2)-10Al_(2)O_(3)-35BaO-0.25Bi_(2)O_(3)(gBE0.5) is 31.1% of that at 308 ***,the activation energy of the glass matrix is 0.251 *** results suggest that these Bi^(3+)/Eu^(3+) co-doped glass samples possess potential application in LED field.

Universal origin of glassy relaxation as recognized by configuration pattern matching

Relaxation processes are crucial for understanding the structural rearrangements of liquids and amorphous materials. However, the overarching principle that governs these processes across vastly different materials remains an open question. Substantial analysis has been carried out based on the motions of individual particles. Here, as an alternative, we propose viewing the global configuration as a single entity. We introduce a global order parameter, namely the inherent structure minimal displacement(IS Dmin), to quantify the variability of configurations by a pattern-matching technique. Through atomic simulations of seven model glass-forming liquids, we unify the influences of temperature, pressure and perturbation time on the relaxation dissipation, via a scaling law between the mechanical damping factor and IS Dmin. Fundamentally,this scaling reflects the curvature of the local potential energy landscape. Our findings uncover a universal origin of glassy relaxation and offer an alternative approach to studying disordered systems.

A dual-mode optical thermometer based on dual-excitation Bi^(3+),Sm^(3+)co-doped Y_(4)geO_(8) phosphors

Dual-excitation and dual-emission Y_(4)geO_(8):Bi^(3+),Sm^(3+)phosphors were manufactured by traditional solidphase sintering *** X-ray diffraction,morphology,photoluminescence,energy transfer process and temperature sensing properties of Y_(4)geO_(8):Bi^(3+),Sm^(3+)samples were comprehensively *** Y4geO_(8):Bi^(3+),Sm^(3+)phosphors exhibit characteristic emissions of Bi^(3+)(^(3)P_(1)→^(1)S_(0)) and Sm^(3+)(^(4)g_(5/2)→^(6)H)under both 290 and 347 nm *** fluorescence intensity ratio and Commission International de L'Eclairage coordinates modes,Y_(4)geO_(8):Bi^(3+),Sm^(3+)samples present excellent temperature measurement *** maximum relative sensitivity(S_(r-max)) values of the former are 1.55%/K(460 K,290 nm excitation) and 0.82%/K(506 K,347 nm excitation).The S_(r-max)(x) values of the latter are 0.21 %/K(437 K,290 nm excitation) and 0.15%/K(513 K,347 nm excitation).These results illustrate that Y_(4)geO_(8):Bi^(3+),Sm^(3+)phospho rs can be used as a candidate material for a dual-mode optical thermometer under dual-excitation.

A new monitoring index for ecological vulnerability and its application in the Yellow River Basin,China from 2000 to 2022

The ecological environment of the Yellow River Basin has become more fragile under the combined action of natural and manmade ***,the change mechanisms of ecological vulnerability in different sub-regions and periods vary,and the reasons for this variability are yet to be ***,in this study,we proposed a new remote sensing ecological vulnerability index by considering moisture,heat,greenness,dryness,land degradation,and social economy indicators and then analyzed and disclosed the spatial and temporal change patterns of ecological vulnerability of the Yellow River Basin,China from 2000 to 2022 and its driving *** results showed that the newly proposed remote sensing ecological vulnerability index had a high accuracy,at 86.36%,which indicated a higher applicability in the Yellow River *** 2000 to 2022,the average remote sensing ecological vulnerability index of the Yellow River Basin was 1.03,denoting moderate vulnerability *** intensive vulnerability area was the most widely distributed,which was mostly located in the northern part of Shaanxi Province and the eastern part of Shanxi *** 2000 to 2022,the ecological vulnerability in the Yellow showed an overall stable trend,while that of the central and eastern regions showed an obvious trend of *** gravity center of ecological vulnerability migrated southwest,indicating that the aggravation of ecological vulnerability in the southwestern regions was more severe than in the northeastern regions of the *** dominant single factor of changes in ecological vulnerability shifted from normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)to temperature from 2000 to 2022,and the interaction factors shifted from temperature∩NDVI to temperature∩precipitation,which indicated that the global climate change exerted a more significant impact on regional *** above results could provide decision support for the ecological protection and restoration of the Y

Facile synthesis of composite polyferric magnesium-silicate-sulfate coagulant with enhanced performance in water and wastewater

The coagulation process is a widely applied technology in water and wastewater *** composite polyferric mag-nesium-silicate-sulfate(PFMS)coagulants were synthesized using Na_(2)SiO_(3)·9H_(2)O,Fe_(2)(SO_(4))_(3),and MgSO_(4) as raw materials in this *** effects of aging time,Fe:Si:Mg,and OH:M molar ratios(M represents the metal ions)on the coagulation performance of the as-pre-pared PFMS were systematically investigated to obtain optimum *** results showed that PFMS coagulant exhibited good co-agulation properties in the treatment of simulated humic acid-kaolin surface water and reactive dye *** the molar ratio was controlled at Fe:Si:Mg=2:2:1 and OH:M=0.32,the obtained PFMS presented excellent stability and a high coagulation *** removal efficiency of ultraviolet UV254 was 99.81%,and the residual turbidity of the surface water reached 0.56 NTU at a dosage of 30 mg·L^(-1).After standing the coagulant for 120 d in the laboratory,the removal efficiency of UV254 and residual turbidity of the surface wa-ter were 88.12%and 0.68 NTU,respectively,which accord with the surface water treatment *** addition,the coagulation performance in the treatment of reactive dye wastewater was greatly improved by combining the advantages of magnesium and iron *** with polyferric silicate-sulfate(PFS)and polymagnesium silicate-sulfate(PMS),the PFMS coagulant played a better decolor-ization role within the pH range of 7-13.
