Platelet-based bioactive systems guided precision targeting and immune regulation for cancer therapy

The antitumor effects of conventional drug carriers are often attenuated and limited in application by biological barriers associated with tumor heterogeneity and resistance brought about by low tumor *** the rapid development of nanotechnology,naturally derived bioactive materials,and live cell carriers,a promising strategy emerges for targeting the tumor microenvironment(TME)for precision cancer *** unique injury-targeting properties of platelets can significantly extend functional activity,which cannot be achieved with conventional *** this review,three strategies based on platelet-engineered materials are systematically described,namely nanoparticles for platelet membrane camouflage,engineered activated platelets,and targeted-platelets ***-based nanomaterials can effectively coordinate local and distant tumor-host crosstalk with controlled active tumor site recognition and killing effects due to the presence of specific membrane proteins on the surface and the self-secretion of a large number of *** advances in platelets for effectively overcoming biological barriers and reducing immune resistance in cancer immunotherapy applications will be discussed in future clinical *** review provides an overview of recent research advances in platelet-based bioactive material-directed immunotherapy and chemotherapy to inform future antitumor combination therapies.

Optimized silicon fertilization regime weakens cadmium translocation and increases its biotransformation in rice tissues

In acidic paddy fields of South China,rice(Oryza sativa L.)faces the dual challenges of cadmium(Cd)toxicity and silicon(Si)*** previous studies have highlighted the functions of Si application timing and strategies in mitigating Cd-stressed rice,the precise mechanisms underlying the health restoration of Cd-toxic rice and the assurance of grain safety remain *** study explored Cd translocation and detoxification in the shoots of rice regulated by various Si fertilization regimes:Si(T)(all Si added before transplanting),Si(J)(all Si added at jointing),and Si(TJ)(half Si added both before transplanting and at jointing).The findings revealed that the regime of Si(TJ)was more beneficial to rice health and grain safety than Si(T)and Si(J).The osmotic regulators such as proline,soluble sugars,and soluble proteins were significantly boosted by Si(TJ)compared to other Si treatments,and which enhanced membrane integrity,balanced intracellular pH,and increased Cd tolerance of ***,Si(TJ)was more effective than Si(T)and Si(J)on the Cd sequestration in the cell wall,Cd bio-passivation,and the down-regulated expression of the Cd transport *** concentrations of Cd in the xylem and phloem treated with Si(TJ)were reduced ***,Si(TJ)facilitated much more Cd bound with the outer layer proteins of grains,and promoted Cd chelation and complexation by phytic acid,phenolics,and ***,Si(TJ)outperformed Si(T)and Si(J)in harmonizing the phycological processes,inhibiting Cd translocation,and enhancing Cd detoxification in rice *** the split Si application strategy offers potential for reducing Cd toxicity in rice grain.

A reduced-order model for fast predicting ionized flows of hypersonic vehicles along flight trajectory

An improved Reduced-Order Model(ROM)is proposed based on a flow-solution preprocessing operation and a fast sampling strategy to efficiently and accurately predict ionized hypersonic *** ROM is generated in low-dimensional space by performing the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition(POD)on snapshots and is coupled with the Radial basis Function(RbF)to achieve fast prediction ***,due to the disparate scales in the ionized flow field,the conventional ROM usually generates spurious negative ***,this issue is addressed by performing flow-solution preprocessing in logarithmic space to improve the conventional ***,extra orthogonal polynomials are introduced in the RbF interpolation to achieve additional improvement of the prediction *** addition,to construct high-efficiency snapshots,a trajectory-constrained adaptive sampling strategy based on convex hull optimization is *** evaluate the performance of the proposed fast prediction method,two hypersonic vehicles with classic configurations,i.e.a wave-rider and a reentry capsule,are used to validate the proposed *** two cases show that the proposed fast prediction method has high accuracy near the vehicle surface and the free-stream region where the flow field is *** with the conventional ROM prediction,the prediction results are significantly improved by the proposed method around the discontinuities,*** shock wave and the ionized *** a result,the proposed fast prediction method reduces the error of the conventional ROM by at least 45%,with a speedup of approximately 2.0×105compared to the Computational Fluid Dynamic(CFD)*** test cases demonstrate that the method developed here is efficient and accurate for predicting ionized hypersonic flows.

A single atom photocatalyst co-doped with potassium and gallium for enhancing photocatalytic hydrogen peroxide synthesis

Primordial black holes and curvature perturbations from false vacuum islands

Recently,much attention has been focused on the false vacuum islands that are flooded by an expanding ocean of true-vacuum bubbles slightly later than most of the other parts of the *** delayed decay regions will accumulate locally larger vacuum energy density by staying in the false vacuum longer than those already transited into the true vacuum.A false vacuum island with thus acquired density contrast of a super-horizon size will evolve locally from radiation dominance to vacuum dominance,creating a local baby Universe that can be regarded effectively as a local closed *** such density contrasts of super-horizon sizes can ever grow large enough to exceed the threshold of gravitational collapse,primordial black holes will form similar to those collapsing curvature perturbations on super-horizon scales induced by small-scale enhancements during *** not,such density contrasts can still induce curvature perturbations potentially observable *** this paper,we revisit and elaborate on the generations of primordial black holes and curvature perturbations from delayed-decayed false vacuum islands during asynchronous first-order phase transitions with fitting formulas convenient for future model-independent studies.

Microparticles have demonstrated value for regenerative *** in this field tend to focus on the development of intelligent multifunctional microparticles for tissue ***,inspired by erythrocytes-associated self-repairing process in damaged tissue,we present novel biomimetic erythrocyte-like microparticles(ELMPs).These ELMPs,which are composed of extracellular matrix-like hybrid hydrogels and the functional additives of black phosphorus,hemoglobin,and growth factors(GFs),are generated by using a microfluidic *** the resultant ELMPs have the capacity for oxygen delivery and near-infrared-responsive release of both GFs and oxygen,they would have excellent biocompatibility and multifunctional performance when serving as microscaffolds for cell adhesion,stimulating angiogenesis,and adjusting the release profile of *** on these features,we demonstrate that the ELMPs can stably overlap to fill a wound and realize controllable cargo release to achieve the desired curative effect of tissue ***,we consider our biomimetic ELMPs with discoid morphology and cargo-delivery capacity to be ideal for tissue engineering.

The gold-telluride connection:Evidence for multiple fluid pulses in the Jinqingding telluride-rich gold deposit of Jiaodong Peninsula,Eastern China

The mechanism of gold migration,enrichment,and precipitation in forming world-class gold deposits has been a topic of wide interest,particularly where these deposits are abundant in *** Jiaodong Peninsula in eastern China hosts some of the world-class gold deposits among which the Jinqingding deposit is one of the best examples with substantial telluride mineralization and thus provides opportunity to investigate the genetic connection between tellurium and gold *** orebody in this deposit is hosted in the NE-NNE-trending Jiangjunshi-Quhezhuang fault with the Jurassic Kunyushan granitic pluton as wall *** deposit involved three mineralization stages as inferred from assemblages and crosscutting relationships between *** stages are:(I)pre-ore gold-poor quartz-pyrite veins,(II)main ore auriferous quartz-pyrite-Te/bi-minerals±sphalerite±chalcopyrite±barite±marcasite veins,and(III)post-ore quartz-calcite *** present here the textural,isotopic,and geochemical variations of different stages/generations of pyrite based on scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy(SEM-EDS),electron probe microanalysis(EPMA),and laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(LA-ICP-MS).Pyrite in the Jinqingding deposit displays distinct ***1a shows a porous and dissolution-reprecipitation texture in the core,whereas Py1b exhibits a smooth and flat *** analysis reveals contrasting elemental compositions,with Py1a characterized by low Au(avg.0.14 ppm),As(avg.15.57 ppm),Ag(avg.17.71 ppm),and Te(avg.19.22 ppm)contents,but elevated Co(avg.1068.10 ppm)and Ni(224.12 ppm)concentrations,and variable sulfur isotopic composition(δ^(34)SV-CDT=9.54‰-12.12‰).Conversely,Py1b displays increased concentrations of these elements and a more concentratedδ^(34)SV-CDT value(11.99‰-12.23‰),possibly associated with weak coupled dissolution-reprecipitation(CDR)*** Stage II,pyrite can be further categorized

Cooperation between single atom catalyst and support to promote nitrogen electroreduction to ammonia:A theoretical insight

The co-catalysis between single atom catalyst(SAC)and its support has recently emerged as a promising strategy to synergistically boost the catalytic activity of some complex electrochemical reactions,encompassing multiple intermediates and ***,we utilized defective bC_(3)monolayer-supported SACs as a prototype to investigate the cooperative effects of SACs and their support on the catalytic performance of the nitrogen reduction reaction(NRR)for ammonia(NH_(3))*** results showed that these SACs can be firmly stabilized on these defective bC_(3)supports with high stability against ***,co-activation of the inert N_(2)reactant was observed in certain embedded SACs and their neighboring b atoms on certain bC3 sheets due to the noticeable charge transfer and significant N–N bond *** high-throughput screening revealed that the Mo/DV_(CC)and W/DV_(CC)exhibit superior NRR catalytic performance,characterized by a low limiting potential of−0.33 and−0.43 V,respectively,which can be further increased under acid conditions based on the constant potential ***,varying NRR catalytic activities can be attributed to the differences in the valence state of active ***,further microkinetic modeling analysis displayed that the turnover frequency of N_(2)–to–NH_(3)conversion on Mo/DV_(CC)is as large as 1.20×10^(−3)s^(−1)site^(−1) at 700 K and 100 bar,thus guaranteeing its ultra-fast reaction *** results not only suggest promising advanced electrocatalysts for NRR but also offer an effective avenue to regulate the electrocatalytic performance via the co-catalytic metal–support interactions.
