Health indicator(HI)construction is a crucial task in degradation evaluation and facilitates the prognostic and health management(PHM)of rotating *** interference from artificial labeling,the HI construction approaches in an unsupervised manner have attracted substantial ***,current unsupervised methods generally struggle with two problems:(1)ignorance of both redundancy between features and global variability of features during the feature selection process;(2.inadequate utilization of information from different sampling *** tackle these problems,this work develops a novel unsupervised approach for HI construction that integrates multi-criterion feature selection and the Attentive Variational Autoencoder(Attentive VAE).Explicitly,a multi-criterion feature selection(Mc FS)algorithm together with an elaborately designed metric is proposed to determine a superior feature subset,considering the relevance,the redundancy,and the global variability of features ***,for the adequate utilization of the information from distinct sampling moments,a deep learning model named Attentive VAE is *** Attentive VAE is solely fed with the selected features in the health state for model training and the HI is derived through the reconstruction error to reveal the degradation degree of *** case studies based on genuine experimental datasets are involved to quantitatively evaluate the superiority of the developed approach,demonstrating its superiority over other unsupervised methods for characterizing degradation *** effectiveness of both the Mc FS algorithm and the Attentive VAE is verified by ablation experiments,respectively.

The Forecast Skills and Predictability Sources of Marine Heatwaves in the NUIST-CFS1.0 Hindcasts

Using monthly observations and ensemble hindcasts of the Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology Climate Forecast System(NUIST-CFS1.0) for the period 1983–2.2., this study investigates the forecast skill of marine heatwaves(MHWs) over the globe and the predictability sources of the MHWs over the tropical oceans. The MHW forecasts are demonstrated to be skillful on seasonal-annual time scales, particularly in tropical oceans. The forecast skill of the MHWs over the tropical Pacific Ocean(TPO) remains high at lead times of 1–2. months, indicating a forecast better than random chance for up to two years. The forecast skill is subject to the spring predictability barrier of El Nino-Southern Oscillation(ENSO). The forecast skills for the MHWs over the tropical Indian Ocean(TIO), tropical Atlantic Ocean(TAO), and tropical Northwest Pacific(NWP) are lower than that in the TPO. A reliable forecast at lead times of up to two years is shown over the TIO, while a shorter reliable forecast window(less than 17 months) occurs for the TAO and ***, the forecast skills for the TIO, TAO, and NWP are seasonally dependent. Higher skills for the TIO and TAO appear in boreal spring, while a greater skill for the NWP emerges in late summer-early autumn. Further analyses suggest that ENSO serves as a critical source of predictability for MHWs over the TIO and TAO in spring and MHWs over the NWP in summer.

Frontogenesis and Frontolysis of a Cold Filament Driven by the Cross-Filament Wind and Wave Fields Simulated by a Large Eddy Simulation

The variations of the frontogenetic trend of a cold filament induced by the cross-filament wind and wave fields are studied by a non-hydrostatic large eddy simulation. Five cases with different strengths of wind and wave fields are *** results show that the intense wind and wave fields further break the symmetries of submesoscale flow fields and suppress the levels of filament frontogenesis. The changes of secondary circulation directions—that is, the conversion between the convergence and divergence of the surface cross-filament currents with the downwelling and upwelling jets in the filament center—are associated with the inertial oscillation. The filament frontogenesis and frontolysis caused by the changes of secondary circulation directions may periodically sharpen and smooth the gradient of submesoscale flow *** lifecycle of the cold filament may include multiple stages of filament frontogenesis and frontolysis.

Study on the interannual variability of the Kerama Gap transport and its relation to the Kuroshio/Ryukyu Current system

An analysis of a 68-year monthly hindcast output from an eddy-resolving ocean general circulation model reveals the relationship between the interannual variability of the Kerama Gap transport(KGT)and the Kuroshio/Ryukyu Current *** study found a significant difference in the interannual variability of the upstream and downstream transports of the East China Sea-(ECS-)Kuroshio and the Ryukyu *** interannual variability of the KGT was found to be of paramount importance in causing the differences between the upstream and downstream ***,it contributed approximately 37%to the variability of the Ryukyu *** interannual variability of the KGT was well described by a two-layer rotating hydraulic *** was dominated by its subsurface-intensified flow core,and the upper layer transport made a weaker negative contribution to the total *** subsurface flow core was found to be mainly driven by the subsurface pressure head across the Kerama Gap,and the pressure head was further dominated by the subsurface density anomalies on the Pacific *** density anomalies could be traced back to the eastern open ocean,and their propagation speed was estimated to be about 7.4 km/d,which is consistent with the speed of the local first-order baroclinic Rossby *** the negative(positive)density anomaly signal reached the southern region of the Kerama Gap,it triggered the increase(decrease)of the KGT towards the Pacific side and the formation of an anticyclonic(cyclonic)vortex by baroclinic ***,there is an increase(decrease)in the upstream transport of the entire Kuroshio/Ryukyu Current system and an offshore flow that decreases(increases)the downstream Ryukyu Current.

Biomass-derived porous carbon with single-atomic cobalt toward high-performance aqueous zinc-sulfur batteries at room temperature

Aqueous zinc-sulfur batteries at room temperature hold great potential for next-generation energy storage technology due to their low cost,safety and high energy ***,slow reaction kinetics and high activation energy at the sulfur cathode pose great challenges for the practical ***,biomass-derived carbon with single-atomic cobalt sites(MMPC-Co)is synthesized as the cathode in Zn-S *** catalysis of single-atom Co sites greatly promotes the transform of cathode electrolyte interface(CEI)on the cathode surface,while offering accelerated charge transfer rate for high conversion reversibility and large electrochemical surface area(ECSA)for high electrocatalytic ***,the rich pore structure not only physically limits sulfur loss,but also accelerates the transport of zinc *** addition,the large pore volume of MMPC-Co is able to relieve the stress effect caused by the volume expansion of Zn S during charge/discharge cycles,thereby maintaining the stability of electrode ***,the sulfur cathode maintains a high specific capacity of 72..96 m A h g^(-1)after 500 cycles at4 A g^(-1),which is much better than most cathode materials reported in the *** work provides new insights into the design and development of room-temperature aqueous Zn-S batteries.

Maternal resveratrol improves the intestinal health and weight gain of suckling piglets during high summer temperatures: The involvement of exosome-derived microRNAs and immunoglobin in colostrum

Previous studies have shown that maternal resveratrol improved growth performance and altered the microbial composition of suckling piglets under hot summer conditions. However, it remains unclear how maternal resveratrol improves growth performance of suckling piglets during high summer temperatures. A total of 2. sows(Landrace × Large White; three parity) were randomly assigned to 2.groups(with or without 300 mg/kg resveratrol) from d 75 of gestation to d 2. of lactation during high ambient temperatures(from 2. to 30℃). The results showed that maternal resveratrol supplementation increased total daily weight gain of piglets under hot summer conditions, which is consistent with previous studies. Furthermore, we found that maternal resveratrol improved the intestinal morphology and intestinal epithelial proliferation in suckling piglets. Dietary resveratrol supplementation affected the characteristics of exosome-derived microRNAs(miRNAs) in sow colostrum, as well as the genes targeted by differentially produced miRNAs. MiRNAs are concentrated in the tight junction pathway. As a result, the expression of intestinal tight junction proteins was increased in suckling piglets(P < 0.05).Notably, maternal resveratrol increased the intestinal secretory immunoglobulin A(sIgA) levels of suckling piglets via colostrum immunoglobin(P < 0.05), which could increase the abundance of beneficial microbiota to further increase the concentration of short chain fatty acids(SCFA) in suckling piglets' intestine(P < 0.05). Finally, our correlation analysis further demonstrated the positive associations between significantly differential intestinal microbiota, intestinal sIgA production and SCFA concentrations,as well as the positive relation between total daily weight gain and intestinal health of suckling *** together, our findings suggested that maternal resveratrol could promote intestinal health to improve piglet growth during high summer temperatures, which might be associa
