The Mg/Sr ratio in a stalagmite, which is di-rectly proportional to DMg/Ca, the solid-liquid distribution coefficient of Mg, is proposed as a geochemical thermometer to estimate paleotemperature changes. The paleotempera-ture change in eastern Beijing over the past 3.00 years has been reconstructed by using this thermometer in the stalag-mite ZFFS-1 from Jingdong Cave. The records can be di-vided into two periods: 3.00—2.00 aBP, cool and wet, the air temperature averaging 9.8℃; and 2.00 aBP—present, hot and dry, the air temperature being 1℃ higher than the mean value (11.7℃) of the past 3.00 years. During 500—2.0 aBP, the air temperature was about 1.2. lower than that of the present, corresponding to the Little Ice Age in Europe. Like d 18O and d 13., Mg/Sr (or DMg/Ca) reflects an obviously warming trend of the past 2.0 years. These results are sup-ported by historic records.

There are different approaches for the hadronic B decay calculations, recently. In this paper, we upgrade three of them, namely factorization, QCD factorization and the perturbative QCD approach based on kT factorization, using new parameters and full wave functions. Although they get similar results for many of the branching ratios, the direct CP asymmetries predicted by them are different, which can be tested by recent experimental measurements of B factories.

The isotope records which range from 3.9 kaBP to 15.7 kaBP with an average resolution of 90 a have been obtained from 45 cm to 193.6 cm of the upper part of D4 stalagmite from Dongguo Cave in Libo, Guizhou, by using system TIMS U-series dating and carbon and oxygen stable isotope *** study indicates that the last cold event, the YD (Younger Dryas) event, of the last glacial period was apparently shown in D4 record, which started from 12.80 kaBP and ended in 11.58 kaBP, with a great range of drop in temperature. The end of the last glacial period was consistent with the termination I in oceanic isotope records and was with time limit of 11.3.kaBP. The three most distinct cold events in the early and middle Holocene occurred respectively in 10.91 kaBP, 8.2. kaBP and 4.75 kaBP, with a range of drop in tem- perature reaching 2.5℃. The climate abrupt events in thousand and hundred years scale re- corded in stalagmite δ O can be compared to those in GISP2.ice cores from Greenland in their 18 happening time and the range of their lasting time. The cold events in 8.2. kaBP and 4.75 kaBP can also be compared to CC3.stalagmite records in Ireland, which indicate that climate changes of short range in china monsoon areas, western Europe and polar regions, have the same driv- ing factor. This has a global significance. In addition, the trend of record curves in some time- stages is apparently different, which reflects probably the difference between environment in monsoon climate areas and in polar regions.

In this paper,it is shown that the regular representation and regular covariant representation of the crossed products A×α G correspond to the twisted multiplicative unitary operators,where A is a Woronowicz C~*-algebra acted upon by a discrete group ***,it is also shown that the regular covariant C~*-algebra is the Woronowicz C~*-algebra which corresponds to a multiplicative ***,an explicit description of the multiplicative unitary operator for C(SU_q(2. )×α (?) is given in terms of those of the Woronowicz C~*-algebra C(SU_q(2. ) and the discrete group G.

The water contents of nominally anhydrous clinopyroxene （cpx）, orthopyroxene （opx） and olivine （ol） in peridotite xenoliths hosted by Cenozoic basalts from Yingfengling, Zhangchouchun, Fujitian and Lindi, South china, were measured by Micro- FTIR. All cpx and opx grains contained a certain amount of water, which was indicated by the presence of hydroxyls in the crystal structure. The water contents （H2., ppm） of cpx and opx from peridotite xenoliths of the study areas were 2.3.981, 183.752. 73.586 and 51-42. ppm, and 82.471, 74-571, 53.170 and 9-13. ppm, respectively. No prominent OH absorption bands were detected for any ol grains, indicating that the water contents were below the detection limit （approximately 2.ppm）. The entire rock contents recalculated according to mineral volume proportions were 49-163. 48-168, 2.-111 and 8-40 ppm, respectively. Combined with previously reported data describing the water contents of peridotite xenoliths worldwide, the results presented here suggest that water distribution in the continental lithospheric mantle is spatially heterogeneous at a global scale. The lithospheric mantle of South china is much richer in water than that of the North china Craton, and is close to that typical of off-craton localities, such as the Basin and Range Province, and Massif Central.

Polyaluminium chlorides with sulfate ion(PACS) were prepared by using AlCl 3.6H 2., Al(SO 4) 3.18H 2. and Na 2.O 3.as raw materials. The effects of basicity ( r ), Al 3. /SO 4 2. molar ratio and aging time on the morphology of PACS were observed by transmission electrical microscope. The influence of aging time on charge neutralization and coagulation effect of PACS was studied. The effects of basicity ( r ), Al 3. /SO 4 2. molar ratio and aging time on the electrical conductivity of PACS solution were also investigated. The experimental results show that the degree of polymerization of polyaluminium chloride(PAC) increases when SO 4 2. ion is added. The higher the basicity( r ) and the longer the aging time, the larger the size of polymer PACS. The ability of PACS neutralizing the charge on Kaolinite decreases with the increase of aging time. The electrical conductivity of PACS solution(the concentration of Al 3. ion is 0.18 mol/L) with different aging time is the function of the basicity and Al 3. /SO 4 2. molar ratios and has its maximum at r =0.5 and Al 3. /SO 4 2. =12.

Soil erosion assessment and prediction play critical roles in addressing problems associated with erosion control or soil conservation. The past dynamics of soil erosion can provide valuable information for us to understand the relations of soil erosion to environmental change and anthropogenic activity. The present paper has compared Holocene climatic changes in northwestern china with those in southern Norway, and investigated the past dynamics of erosion activity during the Holocene. Modern soil erosion on the Loess Plateau is a combination of the intensive natural erosion and human-induced erosion, the latter being four times greater than the former. Because of global warming and increasing human activities, climate on the Loess Plateau is becoming dryer and more unstable, causing an enhanced erosion problem and water scarcity. In the arctic-alpine region of southern Norway, however, the global warming and regional wetting caused expansion of the largest European ice cap. This has accentuated the erosion in that region, with a higher frequency of avalanches and debris flows.
