A novel responsive stabilizing Janus nanosilica as a nanoplugging agent in water-based drilling fluids for exploiting hostile shale environments

Thermo-responsive nanocomposites have recently emerged as potential nanoplugging agents for shale stabilization in high-temperature water-based drilling fluids(WBDFs). However, their inhibitory properties have not been very effective in high-temperature drilling operations. Thermo-responsive Janus nanocomposites are expected to strongly interact with clay particles from the inward hemisphere of nanomaterials, which drive the establishment of a tighter hydrophobic membrane over the shale surface at the outward hemisphere under geothermal conditions for shale stabilization. This work combines the synergistic benefits of thermo-responsive and zwitterionic nanomaterials to synchronously enhance the chemical inhibitions and plugging performances in shale under harsh conditions. A novel thermoresponsive Janus nanosilica(TRJS) exhibiting zwitterionic character was synthesized, characterized,and assessed as shale stabilizer for WBDFs at high temperatures. Compared to pristine nanosilica(Si NP)and symmetrical thermo-responsive nanosilica(TRS), TRJS exhibited anti-polyelectrolyte behaviour, in which electrolyte ions screened the electrostatic attraction between the charged particles, potentially stabilizing nanomaterial in hostile shaly environments(i.e., up to saturated brine or API brine). Macroscopically, TRJS exhibited higher chemical inhibition than Si NP and TRS in brine, prompting a better capability to control pressure penetration. TRJS adsorbed onto the clay surface via chemisorption and hydrogen bonding, and the interactions became substantial in brine, according to the results of electrophoretic mobility, surface wettability, and X-ray diffraction. Thus, contributing to the firm trapping of TRJS into the nanopore structure of the shale, triggering the formation of a tight hydrophobic membrane over the shale surface from the outward hemisphere. The addition of TRJS into WBDF had no deleterious effect on fluid properties after hot-treatment at 1.0℃, implying that TRJ

Sand control mechanism of radial well filled with phase change material in hydrate reservoir

Radial well filled with phase change material has been proposed as a novel sand control method for hydrate exploitation. In order to reveal the sand control mechanism, CFD-DEM coupling method is applied to simulate the migration, settlement, and blockage processes of sand particles in the radial *** obtained results indicate that three scenarios have been recognized for sand particles passing through sand control medium, based on the diameter ratio of sand control medium to sand particle（Dd）:fully passing（Dd= 8.75-22.5）, partially passing and partially blocked（Dd= 3.1.-5.63）, and completely blocked（Dd= 2.1.-3.21.. After being captured by the sand control medium, sand particles can block pores, which increases fluid flow resistance and causes a certain pressure difference in the radial *** pressure in the radial well should be lower than the hydrate phase equilibrium pressure during sand control design, for the purpose of promoting hydrate decomposition, and sand capture. The length of the radial well should be optimized based on the reservoir pore pressure, production pressure difference,bottom hole pressure, and the pressure gradient in the radial well. It should be noticed that the sand control medium leads to a decrease in permeability after sand particles captured. Even the permeability is reduced to several hundred millidarcy, it is still sufficient to ensure the effective flow of gas and water after hydrate decomposition. Increasing fluid velocity reduces the blocking capacity of the sand control medium, mainly because of deterioration in bridging between sand particles.

Aqueous Zn batteries are promising candidates for grid-scale renewable energy *** electrodes have been widely investigated and applied as anode materials for aqueous Zn batteries,however,they suffer from limited surface area and severe interfacial issues including metallic dendrites and corrosion side reactions,limiting the depth of discharge(DOD)of the foil electrode ***,a low-temperature replacement reaction is utilized to in-situ construct a three-dimensional(3D)corrosion-resistant interface for deeply rechargeable Zn foil ***,the deliberate low-temperature environment controlled the replacement rate between polycrystalline Zn metal and oxalic acid,producing a Zn foil electrode with distinct 3D corrosion-resistant interface(3DCI-Zn),which differed from conventional two-dimensional(2D)protective structure and showed an order of magnitude higher surface ***,the 3DCI-Zn electrode exhibited dendrite-free and anticorrosion properties,and achieved stable plating/stripping performance for 1.00 h at 1. mA cm^(-2)and 1. mAh cm^(-2)with a remarkable DOD of 79%.After pairing with a MnO2cathode with a high areal capacity of 4.2 mAh cm^(-2),the pouch cells delivered 1.8 Wh L^(-1.and a capacity retention of 89.7%after 1.0 cycles with a low negative/positive(N/P)ratio of 3:1.

Winter jujube(Ziziphus jujuba'Dongzao')is greatly appreciated by consumers for its excellent quality,but brand infringement frequently occurs in the ***,we first determined a total of 38 elements in 1.7 winter jujube samples from the main winter jujube producing areas of China by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer(ICP-MS).As a result,1. elements(Mg,K,Mn,Cu,Zn,Mo,Ba,Be,As,Se,Cd,Sb,Ce,Er,Tl,and Pb)exhibited significant differences in samples from different producing *** linear discriminant analysis(LDA)and orthogonal projection to latent structures discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA)showed better performance in identifying the origin of samples than unsupervised principal component analysis(PCA).LDA and OPLS-DA had a mean identification accuracy of 87.84 and 94.64%in the testing set,*** using the multilayer perceptron(MLP)and C5.0,the prediction accuracy of the models could reach 96.36 and 91.06%,*** on the above four chemometric methods,Cd,Tl,Mo and Se were selected as the main variables and principal markers for the origin identification of winter ***,this study demonstrates that it is practical and precise to identify the origin of winter jujube through multi-element fingerprint analysis with chemometrics,and may also provide reference for establishing the origin traceability system of other fruits.

Early systemic anticoagulation reduces hospital readmission in acute necrotizing pancreatitis patients:A retrospective cohort study

Background:Early systemic anticoagulation(SAC)is a common practice in acute necrotizing pancreatitis(ANP),and its impact on in-hospital clinical outcomes had been ***,whether it affects long-term outcomes is *** study aimed to evaluate the effect of SAC on 90-day readmission and other long-term outcomes in ANP ***:During January 201. and December 201.,ANP patients admitted within 7 days from the onset of abdominal pain were *** primary outcome was 90-day readmission after *** proportional-hazards regression model and mediation analysis were used to define the relationship between early SAC and 90-day ***:A total of 241.ANP patients were enrolled,of whom 1.3 received early SAC during their hospitalization and 98 did *** who received early SAC experienced a lower incidence of splanchnic venous thrombosis(SVT)[risk ratio(RR)=0.40,95%CI:0.26-0.60,P1.and lower 90-day readmission with an RR of 0.61.95%CI:0.41.0.91.P=0.02)than those who did *** the quality of life,patients who received early SAC had a significantly higher score in the subscale of vitality(P=0.03)while the other subscales were all comparable between the two *** Cox regression model showed that early SAC was an independent protective factor for 90-day readmission after adjusting for potential confounders with a hazard ratio of 0.57(95%CI:0.34-0.96,P=0.04).Mediation analysis showed that SVT mediated 37.0%of the early SAC-90-day readmission ***:The application of early SAC may reduce the risk of 90-day readmission in the survivors of ANP patients,and reduced SVT incidence might be the primary contributor.

Non-adhesive and adhesive contacts of an elastic quarter-or eighth-space with freely sliding sides

The contact of an elastic quarter-or eighth-space is studied under the condition that the movement of the side surface of the quarter-space is constrained:It can slide freely along the plane of the side surface but its normal movement is blocked(for example,by a rigid wall).The solution of this contact problem can be easily achieved by additionally applying a mirrored load to an elastic ***-adhesive contact and the Johnson–Kendall–Roberts(JKR)-type adhesive contact between a rigid sphere and an elastic quarter-space under such a boundary condition is numerically simulated using the fast Fourier transform(FFT)-assisted boundary element method(BEM).Contacts of an elastic eighth-space are investigated using the same *** on the position of the sphere relative to the side edge,different contact behavior is *** the case of adhesive contact,the force of adhesion first increases with increasing the distance from the edge of the quarter-space,achieves a maximum,and decreases further to the JKR-value in large distance from the *** enhancement of the force of adhesion compared to the half-space-contact is associated with the pinning of the contact area at the *** provide the maps of the force of adhesion and their analytical approximations,as well as pressure distributions in the contact plane and inside the quarter-/eighth-space.

A new 3D plastoelastohydrodynamic lubrication model for rough surfaces

Plastoelastohydrodynamic lubrication of rough surfaces(R-PEHL)is a cutting-edge area of research in interface fluid-structure coupling *** existing R-PEHL model calculates the elastic-plastic deformation of rough surface by the Love equation in a semi-infinite space smooth surface,which deviates from the actual ***,it is an innovative work to study the exact solution of elastic-plastic deformation of rough surface and its influence on the solution results of R-PEHL *** this paper,a new contact calculation model of plastoelastohydrodynamic lubrication(PEHL)with three-dimensional(3D)rough surface is proposed by integrating numerical method of EHL and finite element *** new model eliminates an original error introduced by the assumption of semi-infinite space in contact calculation,providing wide applicability and high *** the given rough surfaces and working conditions,the study reveals that:(1.the oil film pressure calculated by the new model is lower than that of the smooth surface in semi-infinite space by 200–800 MPa;(2)the Mises stress of the new model is 2.5%–26.6%higher than that of the smooth surface in semi-infinite space;(3)compared with the semi-infinite space assumption,the rough surface plastic deformation of the new model is increased by 71.–1.3%,and the local plastic deformation singularity may appear under the semi-infinite space assumption;(4)the plastic deformation caused by the first contact cycle on the rough surface of the new model accounts for 66.7%–92.9%of the total plastic deformation,and the plastic deformation of the semi-infinite space accounts for 50%–83.3%.This study resolves the contradiction between the smooth surface assumption and the rough surface in the existing R-PEHL model,establishing a solid logic foundation for the accurate solution of R-PEHL model.
