Objective: To evaluate the activity of different natural products against L3 larvae of Anisakis type I. Methods: Information on investigations into the activity of natural products against the L3 larvae of Anisakis simplex was collected from scientific journals, books, theses and reports via a library and electronic search(using Pubmed, scopus, Medline, Web of science and science Direct). The search terms included: natural products, medicinal plants, essential oils, terpenic derivatives, Anisakis, antinematodal activity. Results: In the literature reviewed numerous papers were found concerning the in vitro and in vivo activity against Anisakis type I of various natural products(plant extracts, essential oils and their major components). Analysis of the results showed that in vitro tests the Melaleuca alternifolia essential oil and the ar-turmerone isolated from Curcuma longa displayed the greatest activity. In vivo, the most active compound was perillaldehyde, the main component of Perilla frutescens essential oil. Conclusions: This study shows that some natural products exhibited promising antianisakis properties.

We read with great interest the recently published article of Boudjema and collaborators(1).The authors evaluated the safety and efficacy of delayed resection(DR)versus simultaneous resection(sR)for patients with initially resectable synchronous colorectal cancer liver metastases(CRC-sLM).The aforementioned study(METAsYNC)was the first randomized controlled trial comparing two resection strategies for *** the literature,large retrospective studies didn’t seem to favor one type of treatment,particularly when comparisons are based on a propensity match score(2).

Dear Editor, The PIWI proteins （originally P-element-induced wimpy testis in Drosophila） are predominantly present in the germ-line in diverse organisms and are involved in the processing of a class of small RNAs known as piRNAs （see Refs. for review）. The human PIWI protein family consists of four members： PIWIL1-4. Of these, PIWIL4 is known to have essential roles in the first phases ofspermatogenesis： its expression is restricted to gonocytes and it is required for transposon silencing. The lack of this gene in mice causes meiotic arrest in spermatogenesis.

BACKGROUND： The primary focus of the study was to ana- lyze the risk factors for bile leakage after hepatectomy for be- nign or malignant tumors. METHODs： A total of 411 patients who had undergone hepa- tectomy between December 2006 and December 2011 were ret- rospectively analyzed. The severity of bile leakage was graded according to the IsGLs classification. Twenty-eight pre- and postoperative parameters were analyzed. REsULTs： The overall bile leakage incidence was 10.2% （42/411）. The severity of the leakage was classified according to the Is- GLs classification. Bile leakage was detected early in case of abdominal drainage （11.4% vs 1.9%, P=0.034）. It prolonged the time of hospitalization （16 vs 9 days, P=0.001）. In all patients, wedge resection was associated with a higher incidence of bile leakage in contrast to anatomical resections （25.6% vs 4.1%, P〈0.0001） regardless of the underlying liver disease. Furthermore, total vascular exclusion increased risk of bile leakage （P=0.008）. CONCLUsIONs： Bile leakage as a major issue after hepatic resection is related to the postoperative morbidity and the hospitalization time. It is associated with non-anatomical re- section and a total vascular exclusion.

Background studies investigating health-related quality of life(HRQoL)in youth with perinatally acquired HIV(PHIV+)are *** study aimed to compare HRQoL of PHIV+to sociodemographic-matched youth not living with HIV(HIV-),spanish general youth population,and to explore associations between sociodemographic variables,drug consumption,and *** PHIV+youth were randomly selected from CoRIspe database(Cohort of the spanish Pediatric HIV Network).HRQoL was evaluated by *** Thirty-nine PHIV+youth(mean age:23.36 years,sD=3.83)and thirty-nine HIV-youth(mean age:22.97 years,sD=3.80)participated in this ***+obtained lower scores in sF-12 physical health subscale(PCs)than HIV-(P=0.001)and spanish general youth population(P=0.006).PHIV+had lower scores on the mental health subscale(MCs)than the spanish general youth population(Pschool obtained better scores than those were not at ***+youth who had used cocaine and cannabis had lower scores in MCs(P=0.002).Conclusions There is a need for HRQoL management in the associated medical follow-up.
