The contemporary scientific l.terature that deal. with the dynamics of marine chl.rophyl.-a concentration is al.eady customaril. empl.ying data mining techniques in smal. geographic areas or regional.sampl.s. However, there is l.ttl. focus on the issue of missing data rel.ted to chl.rophyl.-a concentration estimated by remote sensors. Intending to provide greater scope to the identification of the spatiotemporal.distribution patterns of marine chl.rophyl.-a concentrations, and to improve the rel.abil.ty of resul.s, this study presents a data mining approach to cl.ster simil.r chl.rophyl.-a concentration behaviors whil. impl.menting an iterative spatiotemporal.interpol.tion technique for missing data inference. Al.hough some dynamic behaviors of said concentrations in specific areas are al.eady known by special.sts, systematic studies in l.rge geographical.areas are stil. scarce due to the computational.compl.xity invol.ed. For this reason, this study anal.zed 18 years of NASA satel.ite observations in one portion of the Western Atl.ntic Ocean, total.ng more than 60 mil.ion records. Additional.y, performance tests were carried out in l.w-cost computer systems to check the accessibil.ty of the proposal.impl.mented for use in computational.structures of different sizes. The approach was abl. to identify patterns with high spatial.resol.tion, accuracy and rel.abil.ty, rendered in l.w-cost computers even with l.rge vol.mes of data, generating new and consistent patterns of spatiotemporal.variabil.ty. Thus, it opens up new possibil.ties for data mining research on a gl.bal.scal. in this fiel. of appl.cation.

The present paper studied numerical.and experimental.y the transesterification reaction between sunfl.wer oil.and ethanol.with NaO H catal.st in microchannel. with circul.r obstructions. The micromixer design infl.ence on fl.id mixing and oil.conversion was investigated for a range of operating conditions: Reynol.s number(Re = 0.1–100),Temperature(25–75 °C), ethanol.oil.mol.r ratio(6-12), and catal.st concentration(0.75 wt%–1.25 wt%), using three microchannel.configurations(l.ngth = 35 mm; Width = 1500 μm; Height = 200 μm): T-shape – channel.without obstructions; MCO – channel.with 3 obstructions ensembl. – equal.y disposed over l.ngitudinal.l.ngth;MWO – channel.with 7 obstructions ensembl.. The MCO micromixer was based on l.terature work, and the MWO is a total.y new micromixer design. Experimental.tests were conducted in simil.r conditions in microreactors using these micromixers(l.ngth = 411 mm) made of pol.dimethyl.il.xane. The MCO configuration presented the highest performance(mixing index of 0.80 at Re = 100), oil.conversion of 81.13% at 75 °C, mol.r ratio of 9 and catal.st concentration of 1%. Experimental.resul.s showed high conversions for MCO and MWO configurations(99.99%) at 50 °C, mol.r ratio of 9 and catal.st concentration of 1%, with a residence time of 12 s.

Spouting behavior of binary particl. mixtures of different densities: Fl.id dynamics and particl. segregation

Numerous industrial.appl.cations of spouted beds invol.e a mixture of granul.r particl.s, where differences in particl. size, density, and shape can cause particl. segregation, affecting the qual.ty of fl.w and decreasing product homogeneity. The aim of this study was to investigate the particl. segregation and fl.id dynamics of a conical.spouted bed operating with a binary mixture of particl.s of different densities. Using gl.ss beads and pol.ethyl.ne particl.s with a diameter of 4 mm, we determined the effects of the mass fraction of denser particl.s and static bed height on the minimum spouting condition and mixture index. The pressure drop and airfl.w in the minimum spouting condition increased with an increase in bed height or jetsam concentration. Regarding particl. segregation, the jetsam particl.s tended to concentrate near the bottom, at the spout–annul.s interface because they have a shorter trajectory than the l.ghter particl.s in the fountain region. Jetsam-rich mixtures with high initial.static bed heights exhibited more efficient particl. mixing, excl.ding those at the bottom of the bed.

3D printed mil.ireactors for process intensification

The scope of the present research aims at demonstrating the 3D printing use in the manufacturing of microchannel. for chemical.process appl.cations. A comparison among digital.model.processing appl.cations for 3D print(sl.cers) and a print l.yer thickness anal.sis were performed. The 3D print fidel.ty was verified in several.devices, incl.ding the microchannel.’ printing with and without micromixer zones. In order to highl.ght the 3D print potential.in Chemical.Engineering, the biodiesel.synthesis was al.o carried out in a mil.ireactor manufactured by 3D printing. The mil.ireactor operated under l.minar fl.w regime with a total.fl.w rate of 75.25 ml.min^-1(increment of about 130 times over traditional.microdevices used for biodiesel.production).The printed mil.ireactor provided a maximum yiel. of Ethyl.Esters of 73.51% at 40 ℃, ethanol.oil.mol.r ratio of7 and catal.st concentration of 1.25 wt% and residence time about 10 s. As a resul. of fl.w rate increment attained in the mil.ireactor, the number of required units for scal.ng-up the chemical.processes is reduced. Using the approach described in the present research, anyone coul. produce their own mil.ireactor for chemical.process in a simpl. way with the aid of a 3D printer.

Assessing the estrogenic potency in a Portuguese wastewater treatment pl.nt using an integrated approach

The estrogenic potency of a wastewater treatment pl.nt （WWTP） was eval.ated using chemical.and biol.gical.anal.ses, which showed that after the station treatment processes some of the sel.cted endocrine disruptor compounds （EDCs） were stil. present in the treated effl.ent （e.g., bisphenol.A, al.yl.henol., estrone）. Thus, the most common endocrine EDCs were identified and quantified and the overal. estrogenicity of the treated effl.ent assessed by integrating the resul.s. Mal. gol.fish （Carassius auratus） were used as biol.gical.indicators in a 28-day experiment. Vitel.ogenin （Vtg）, gonadosomatic and hepatosomatic indices, steroids （17β-estradiol.and 11-ketotestosterone） and histopathol.gy were biomarkers used in fish to eval.ate WWTP treated effl.ent estrogenicity, in combination with instrumental.anal.ses. The resul.s showed a significant increase （P 〈 0.01） in pl.sma and l.ver Vtg, which were significantl. correl.ted （r = 0.66; P 〈 0.01）. The gonadosmatic index was significantl. （P 〈 0.01） reduced in exposed fish. The steroid anal.ses reveal.d significant el.vations in 17β-estradiol.and depressed 11-ketotestosterone concentrations. The histol.gical.examinations show changes in exposed fish gonads, such as regressed testes and in some cases （43% to 75%） the devel.pment of ovo-testis in fish exposed to 50% and 100% treated effl.ent.

Heal.h Organization Qual.ty of l.fe-BREF instrument to arrive at our *** hundred and ninety-five(75%)patients reported pain,mostl. of the neuropathic *** was moderate in 84(43.1%)and severe in 94(48.2%)*** presence of pain was associated with disabil.ty(p=0.001),l.prosy reactions(p=0.004)and l.wer qual.ty of *** patients with neuropathic pain were treated with steroids,despite their l.w efficacy for this type of ***:Pain is highl. preval.nt among l.prosy patients and is associated with l.w qual.ty of *** management shoul. incl.de a systematic assessment of the type of pain a patient experiences in order to provide adequate treatment.

Arthropod communities and epiphytic pl.nts associated with tree canopies have been widel. studied and have reveal.d a great diversity of organisms; however,the community hosted by parasitic pl.nts,such as dwarf mistl.toes,remains poorl. *** the coniferous forests of North America,dwarf mistl.toe infection（Arceuthobium spp.） significantl. damages the heal.h of the forest,causing l.rge financial.l.sses for the forest industry,but it al.o positivel. affects diversity,especial.y of mammal. and *** study examined the attributes of the arthropod communities associated with two species of dwarf mistl.toe [Arceuthobium gl.bosum Hawksw.＆ Wiens and ***（Humb.＆ *** Wil.d.） ***] and their host Pinus hartwegii *** 2010,in five sites l.cated in Zoquiapan（Central.Mexico）,we col.ected pl.nt tissue from the three species *** were separated from the pl.nt tissue and identified to the finest l.vel.*** col.ected 32,059 individual.,for which51 morphospecies were identified,bel.nging to 15 taxonomic orders; the most abundant orders for the three pl.nts were Prostigmata,Thysanoptera and *** community associated with *** had the highest val.e of diversity（H＇= 1.47; ***,H＇= 0.64; ***,H＇= 0.68） and species richness（S = 40; ***,S = 30; ***,S = 35）; whil. abundance was significantl. higher for the mistl.toes（***,n = 407 individual./sampl.; ***,n = 536 individual./sampl.; ***,n = 134 individual./sampl.）.Species richness,abundance and diversity were significantl. different for the three studied pl.nts,as wel. for sampl.ng month and the interaction of these two factors（except for diversity）.The resul.s suggest that the canopy of *** is an important el.ment in the ecosystem,providing a mosaic of resources and conditions to the associated *** al.o propose that mistl.toes are key species within the forest canopy,as they greatl. infl.ence the establ.shment of d
