This paper studied a novel high energy density ultracapacitor and develops the applicable ultracapacitor management system.The ultracapacitor system is successively tested on the charge/discharge test bench and the hybrid energy test bench.The result indicates that the ultracapacitor system has a advantage of low resistance,high efficiency,and long life span,its energy density and power density can fulfill the requirement of the full hybrid vehicle.

The number of software supported systems in vehicles is constantly growing.All carmakers have more or less problems to handle the high number of software functions.Because,traditionally,each function is implemented by a separate control unit,also the number of control units has reached a tremendous level.The key points to master this situation are reusing und integration of functions.The AUTOSAR standard supports both approaches by defining standardized interfaces for software components.This chapter describes the approach to develop software components along the well-known V-Model.All process phases,from the analysis phase to the test phase of the function oriented development process are shown.Furthermore,all tools supporting the different phases are demonstrated.

With the development of vehicle electronics,the problem of strong coupling and poor generality of vehicle electronic control products become more significant due to the closed-loop control mode of the vehicle electronic control systems.According to the trend analysis of the future development of vehicle Electrical and electronic by using s-curve and nine-screen method of the TRIZ,vehicle network control system,also referred as VNCS is not only an important way to solve the above mentioned problem,but also an important trend for vehicle Electrical and Electronic development.Since the basic theory and model of VNCS have not fully developed yet,the methodology of research and design of VNCS still need to be further studied.In this paper,according to vehicle electrical and electronic features,the theory of industrial network control system and communication system model is introduced to build up the vehicle network control system model,furthermore,vehicle network control system model based on CAN and FlexRay are simulated and analyzed.The research results indicated that,real-time performance of vehicle network control system model based on FlexRay is better than which based on CAN.At the same time,with the separation f vehicle control system sensors,actuators and controllers,the diversification of the system functions is increased,which is an effective solution for the problem of strong coupling and poor generality of vehicle electronic control products.This research provided guidance of basic theory and design for VNCS.and also forecasted the future of vehicle network control system development prospect.

By testing hybrid electric vehicle emissions under a variety of driving cycles,collect instantaneous emissions,battery current and the output voltage data and so on,and analyze these data to study emission characteristics of hybrid electric vehicle.The results showed that:this hybrid electric vehicle has many complex working modes,automatic start-stop technology can adopt about 7.2%of carbon emissions,accelerating the warm up of engine is an effective means to reduce emissions further.

The automotive industry of China is at big rapid development stage,each independence domestic OEM have paid more attention to independent brand vehicle,especially passenger vehicle development.As increasing of vehicle comfortableness requirement from the customer and technology input from domestic OEM,the vehicle Noise,Vibration,Harshness（NVH） performance has be regarded as one important symbol which reflects internal performance quality and outside characters,and taken more and more attention.The idle vibration is one common problem in independent brand vehicle development,because this issue is related to the powertrain system,powertrain mounts system,trimmed body system,steering wheelsteering column—Cross car beam（CCB） system etc.,the control is very difficult.

As the development of electric vehicle,we have to face the questions about HV safety.If the HV system,especially the battery system,is not designed properly,it will be impossible to make a safety car to the customer.Under certain circumstance,it may cause direct threatens to the people life.So it is very important to have a good analysis of the battery system safety design.This paper mainly pays attention to the safety solution of battery system in electric vehicle.From different levels,including battery cell design,battery system design and vehicle system safety design,we provide some safety concept.It will help a lot of the electric vehicle’s safety.

This paper is focussed to assess the performance of a low cost steer-bywire system developed in the vehicle Dynamics Laboratory’ at Cranfield University.The steering system plays an important role in vehicle’s safety by influencing its handling performance and therefore considered as a critical vehicle system.The performance of a steer-by-wire system is predominantly linked to its actuators’ behaviour.This paper contains the findings of experiments carried out to measure the actuators’ response.As the steering commands can be represented by step,sinusoidal and combination of such inputs therefore the actuators are subjected to similar sort of inputs with varying frequencies and amplitudes.In the later part a controller is developed to improve the performance of the steering system using the torque vectoring technique.

In the early development phase of a passenger car.the implicit parametric model of the lower body of BIW was built by SHE CONCEPT and combined with the finite element model of other parts of BIW to compose the parametric BIW model.On an Optimus workflow including BIW stiffness and vibration mode,design variables and their effective range were defined based on engineering experiences and vehicle features.A Response Surface Model（RSM） was created through Design of Experiments（DOE）,and effects of key parameters of BIW structure on the stiffness and vibration mode were analyzed.Finally global optimization was conducted,and the lightweight vehicle body structure in compliance with performance requirements of modal and stiffness purposes was obtained,which saved 11.35 kg（154.55→143.20 kg） and lightweight effect was 7.34%.

In automotive development,the main characteristics of a new car model are determined in the initial phases of product generation.Since the conceptual definition has to consider various,partially conflicting boundary conditions and requirements,the resulting vehicle concept always represents an outcome of intensive optimization processes.This multidisciplinary optimization requires a high flexibility from the tools,methods and processes applied.In the present approach,an integration of computer-aided design（CAD） and computer-aided engineering（CAE） disciplines form an easy-to-handle tool to support and maintain the entire conceptual full-vehicle process.This starts with initial ideas,sketches and specifications,continues with 3D-CAD representation of boundary conditions,forming preliminary and eventually final vehicle concept geometries,and finally provides functional layout procedures for weight estimation,propulsion layout,driving dynamics behaviour and aerodynamic characteristics.

As a type of distributed propulsion technology for new energy vehicles in recent future,in-wheel motorized four-wheel drive systems are increasingly seen in small si/ed battery energy stored and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.For integration of the steer and traction controls the vehicle dynamics model is developed in Matlab/Simulink environment,in which the electric vehicle is simplified to be the symmetric half model of two degrees of freedom and the terrain mechanics model counting for side adhesion effect is adopted.Feedforward regulation and feedback correction control algorithms are applied and the vehicle steering angle,drive velocity,yaw rate and sideslip angle are treated as input variables in the control system.Both numerical simulations and experiments are performed for validation of the present method.It is demonstrated by comparison of the test results with the numerical predictions that the present control strategy is fairly good in efficiency for improving handling stability of the in-wheel motorized electric vehicles.
