The preservation of biodiversity has become a major concern in many countries as human activities threaten to impact biodiversity in a global scale. Land use changes promoted by production of edible oil crops globally have been singled out as one of the biggest contributors to biodiversity loss. In the Americas and Australia, the attention is on the conventional soybean production;whereas Southeast Asia’s palm oil industry is scrutinised. As edible oil production continues to grow towards a future of an increasing world population, the focus is on how developing countries such as Malaysian can continue to ensure the preservation of biodiversity. Developed countries should also take stock on how their edible oil production is affecting biodiversity loss in the present as well as past influences. The traditional perception of biodiversity loss through deforestation is investigated considering today’s dynamic climate change circumstances. This paper examines the issues on biodiversity while painting a rationalistic perspective towards the growth and purpose of edible oil production in various places around the world. This paper also examines the sustainability of Malaysian palm oil industry and explains how palm industries can, in the long term, have the advantage of being more sustainable edible oil source compared with conventional oils such as soy beans and rapeseed.

In this work, a new type of trace-water dehydration materials, gluconic acid montmorillonite （GAM）, was prepared, in which the alkaline Ca-bentonite was modified by gluconate acid. GAM was characterized by FT-IR, XRD and DSC. The results of structure characterizations indicated that the -OH （hydroxyl groups） content in the GAM was over 16.6wt%. Desorption temperature of water ranged from 50 to 200℃. The layered structure of the alkaline Ca-bentonite was well maintained after the acidic modification with the interlamellar spacing about 1.6nm which is much larger than that of molecular sieves, thus enabling the rapid water absorption at a normal pressure. The results of application in the dehydration of alcohol vapors showed that water concentration in products could be decreased from 5% to 100ppm.

This investigation is focused on the effect of elevated temperature curing on compressive strength of plain concrete and concrete with partial replacement of cement by industrial wastes. In this project Petroleum industry waste （Zeolite Based Spent Catalyst）＆ Steel industry waste （FeS dust） are used to partial replacement of cement in concrete. A set of concrete specimens were made with 0%, 20% （FeS dust）, 30% （FeS dust）, 25% （ZBSC）, ＆ 35% （ZBSC） as replacement of cement. After 24 hour of casting all demoulded concrete specimens were exposed to hot water curing at 40℃, 50℃ and 60℃ for 1-day, 3-days, and 6-days. After that they were transferred to curing tank with water at room temperature and left there until they reached their test age. The result obtained suggests that temperature have positive influence on the strength development, but not at the same rate in time period. In plain concrete 7-days compressive strength of hot water cured specimens were higher than normal water cured specimens, but at 28-days normal water cured specimens achieve more compressive strength than hot water cured specimens. This phenomenon improves in concrete with partial replacement of cement by petroleum ＆ steel industry wastes.

Knowledge Management （KM） is the next stage in the evolution of organizational transformation strategies. Total Quality Management, Business Process Re-engineering, Learning practices are the ingredients of knowledge management to strategize the organizational learning. Efforts to implement these strategies brought about the realization that a knowledge perspective is a requirement for competing in the challenging environment. Knowledge management may have different meaning depending on whether the perspective is coming from Operations, Organizational Development, Information Technology, or Finance. Knowledge management efforts typically focus on organizational vision such as improved performance, competitive advantage, innovations, sharing of learned lessons ＆ continuous learning resulting in sustaining of organizational effectiveness. There can be a distinguished focus on the management of knowledge as a strategic asset and a focus on encouraging the sharing of knowledge. KM efforts can help individuals and groups to share valuable organizational insights, to reduce redundant work, to avoid reinventing the wheel, to reduce training time for new employees, to retain intellectual capital as employees turnover in an organization, and to adapt to changing environments and markets （McAdam ＆ McCreedy 2000）（Thompson ＆ Walsham 2004）. This paper is an attempt to study the drivers of knowledge management as motivation. As knowledge management programs can often lead to greater innovation, better customer experiences, consistency in good practices, knowledge access across a global organization, and other organizational benefits.
