摘 要：AIM:Xerostomia(dry mouth) decreases quality of *** herbs Huangqi(HQ,Radix astragali) and Yuzhu(YZ,Polygonatum odoratum) relieve xerostomia(dry mouth) by increasing salivary fluid *** salivary fluid secretion and energy metabolism was studied to learn the possible mechanisms on isolated and perfused rat submandibular ***:Adult male Wistar rats were anesthetized with pentobarbitone sodium,and the submandibular glands were surgically isolated and transferred to an organ bath(37℃).The artery and vein were cannulated and the glands ware perfused arterially using a peristaltic *** a control stimulation,carbamylcholine(CCh) was added to the *** the glands were perfused with two groups:group A is HQ or HQ and CCh,and group B is YZ or YZ and *** the experiment the saliva was leaded into the cup on the electronic balance and weighed every 3 s,with the data transferred to the *** the end of this experiment,the weight data were calculated to the rate of fluid *** examine whether HQ and YZ influenced energy metabolism of the glands,oxygen consumption was also measured by the Clark-type electrodes at arterial and venous ***:The fluid secretion was compared between a single stimulation with HQ or YZ and mixed stimulation with CCh *** stimulation of CCh,the addition of only HQ or YZ both did not increase the fluid secretion,but promoted the sustained oxygen *** perfusion with CCh respectively,the amount of secreted saliva and oxygen consumption all increased significantly(P0.05) and then decreased slightly,in which YZ apparently stimulated more fluid secretion and consumed more ***,addition of ouabain inhibited salivary fluid secretion and oxygen consumption sharply in two groups,but compared with YZ group in the end,HQ group preserved the capability of salivary fluid secretion ***:With the stimulation of CCh,both HQ and YZ can improve salivary fluid se
