Could traditional Chinese medical therapy be an efficacy and safety method for cancer-related fatigue? A Systematic Review and Metaanalysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

摘 要:Objective: To assess the efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medical therapy for the treatment of cancer-related fatigue. Methods : We systematically searched eight electronic databases up to June 2017 for randomized clinical trials of traditional Chinese medical therapy for cancer-related fatigue. Two authors independently extracted data and assess the risk bias of the included trials using Cochrane Handbook. Data was analyzed by RevMan 5.2 software. Results : We included 23 trials involving 1832 participants identified cancer-related fatigue in the study. 20 trials reported traditional Chinese medical therapy brings beneficialeffect on the treatment of cancer-related fatigue. Pooling the data that used Chinese herbal medicine therapy and acupuncture or moxibustion therapy respectively, it was found significant differences between the experimental groups and control groups. Fatigue improvement rates were respectively showed significant differences between traditional Chinese medical therapy groups and control groups.(OR: 7.62;95%CI: 3.75-15.49;P0.00001;and OR : 3.78;95%CI: 2.29-6.23;P0.00001) The data of Fatigue change scores also showed significant difference between the two groups.(MD:-0.91;95%CI:-1.16--0.65;P0.00001). 11 trials demonstrated traditional Chinese medical therapy improves the quality of life on cancer patients. There were no severe adverse effects occurred at traditional Chinese medical therapy group. Conclusion: we found traditional Chinese medical therapy seems to be effective and safe in the treatment of cancer-related fatigue.
