The mediating role of psychological capital on the association between workplace violence and professional identity among Chinese doctors:a cross-sectional study

摘 要:Objectives The professional identity of physicians,which play an essential role in Chinese society,is a vital issue for medical ***,Chinese doctors are suffering from workplace violence as potential results of difficulties in dealing with doctor-patient relationship and relatively low level of psychological *** studies have researched on this topic in *** study was designed to examine the association between workplace violence and professional identity,and to further explore whether the psychological capital(PsyCap) can serve as a mediator in this relationship among doctors in *** A cross-sectional study was conducted from November to December in2017,the study used a questionnaire consisting of Workplace Violence Scale(WVS),Occupational identity Scale(OIS),Psychological Capital Questionnaire(PCQ),as well as questions about demographic characteristics.A multi-stage stratified random sampling method was used to select 1200 doctors.A total of 995 patients(effective response rate of 82.9%) became our subjects at five districts in Dalian city,Liaoning Province,*** linear regression analyses were conducted to explore the association between workplace violence and professional identity and the mediating role of psychological *** After adjusting for demographic characteristics,workplace violence was negatively associated with professional identity(?=-0.369;P0.01).Workplace violence explained 13.1%of the variance of professional *** capital was found to be a partial mediator between workplace violence and professional *** Psychological capital partially mediated the relationship of workplace violence and professional identity among Chinese *** to decrease Chinese doctors’ workplace violence and improve psychological capital should be developed in the future.
