Characterization of a New Type of Extensive Drug-Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii Prevailing in a Tertiary Hospital in Southwest China

摘 要:The molecular epidemiology of extensive drug-resistant Acinetobacter baumanii(XDRAB) remains poorly defined despite their prevalence *** the current study,we collected clinical *** isolates in a tertiary-care hospital in Chongqing,Southwest China,from January 2009 to December *** a total of 277 isolates collected,116 of them were identified as *** analysis of these XDRAB isolates by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis(PFGE) has identified three major PFGE patterns,which were designated as group A,B and *** analysis of these three groups of XDRAB by multilocus sequence typing(MLST) revealed that they were assigned to sequence type(ST) ST238,which was different from other epidemic clones reported *** of antimicrobial-resistance genes showed that most isolates of ST238 carried bla and/or bla-like genes,suggesting that they were derived from a single OXA-23 and/or OXA-51 type carbapenemase-producing ***,the virulence of ST238 was not significantly attenuated compared to susceptible strains,as determined by hemagglutination capability,gelatinase activity and growth capacity in vitro,and in a peritoneal sepsis mice model in ***,these phenotypic and genotypic characteristics of XDRAB ST238 may account for their prevalence in this hospital.
