摘 要:With heightened economic transition and urbanization, a dramatic spatial restructuring of manufacturing industry has been taking place in China. Applying geographically weighted shift-share model(GW-SSM), which is an improved form of the classical shift-share model(SSM), and geographically and temporally weighted regression model(GTWR), this paper analyzes spatiotemporal patterns and mechanisms of manufacturing location in the Yangtze River Delta(YRD) during 1999-2013. We find that high-tech and capital-intensive manufacturing industries have agglomerated in coastal cities, while labor-intensive and resource-based sectors have become spatially more dispersed. We also find that increasing FDI in service, development of high-tech industries, rising labor costs and stronger environmental regulations have facilitated the geographic dispersion of labor-intensive industries, and regions with increasing intermediate commodities, preferential policies and growing urbanization economies are attractive to manufacturing relocation. Our research suggests that development strategies must be tailored to specific regions to promote local production and innovative networks and make manufacturing competitiveness.
