The Residual Stresses and Strains in the Composite Material Barrel

摘      要:This paper aims at establishing a model to calculate the residual stresses and strains in the composite material barrel and analyzing the effect of some factors such as the volume fractions of the composites, the change of the temperature during the curing process, the fiber tension and the winding angles during the winding process. The lay-by-lay modelling technique which is better than other theories applied in the composite material structures is used in the model. Raissner-correction theory which is based on the Kirchhoff-Love suppose is used to calculate the thermal residual stresses and strains, and at the same time the winding angles and the volume fractions of the composite material structures are also considered. According to the theory of cylinder shell, the model gives a set of formulations to compute the residual stresses and strains caused by the winding tension and the tension-decrease change during the manufacturing process. A computer program is developed to simulate the residual stresses and strains in the composite material barrel, and the flow charts are also given. According to the values of the residual stresses and strains, we can select reasonable operating conditions and working parameters during the manufacturing process to improve the strength of the composite material barrel.
