摘 要：Khaya senegalensis(Desr.)***.(African mahogany or dry-zone mahogany) has long been an important multipurpose tree in its natural range in *** is valued for a wide range of non-timber traditional use products and it provides a very high quality *** the past 10 years demand for this timber has increased *** the same time,prices for Khaya timber have risen substantially due to increasing demand, increasing scarcity of trees in natural stands and limits placed on raw log exports from *** recent years,the potential of *** as a plantation species has increasingly recognised and the annual establishment rates are increasingly rapidly in seasonally-dry lowland tropical areas of Australia,Sri Lanka and other countries. Khaya senegalensis is native to sub-Saharan *** occurs in a discontinuous band between 8°and 15°N,extending from the Atlantic Ocean eastwards towards the Indian Ocean,including areas in Chad,Sudan,Uganda,Central African Republic,Benin,Cote D’lvoire,Gambia,Guinea,Guinea-Bissau,Mall,Niger,Nigeria,Senegal,Sierra Leone and *** habitats vary in altitude from 0-1800m asl,with rainfalls varying from about 400 mm to more than 1,700 mm per year and with dry seasons lasting from 4-8 months. It is thought that *** was first introduced to China more than 100 years ago by French *** it is commonly grown in coastal regions of southern China as a shade and amenity tree. Information from studies carried out in Australia along with data from southern China and other countries in Asia,has recently been used to develop a climatic profile for K. *** climatic profile has been used with climatic mapping programs to map areas climatically suited for plantations of *** in China.
