Energy modulation of Nonrelativistic Electrons with Infrared Evanescent Waves

摘 要:Optical evanescent waves which are inducedon a metal microslit by illumination of a light have beenutilized to modulate a low-energy electron beam at op-tical frequencies. Experiments performed at the wave-length of 10.6 μm have shown that energy of electronscan be changed more than 10 eV for an electron beamwith an initial energy of 80 keV by using a CO laserbeam with a peak power of 7 kW.
