The Preliminary Practice on PBL, CBL and TBL in Biochemistry andMolecular Biology Teaching Among Clinical Undergraduates

摘      要:Biochemistry and molecular biology is one of required courses for clinical medicinestudents. However, due to complex reaction and fragmentary chapters, biochemistryand molecular biology is known as the most difficult subject in basic courses. Problem-based learning(PBL), case-based learning(CBL) and Team-based learning(TBL) arewidely used modes of course teaching to improve students’ motivation for autonomouslearning conception and ability in recent years. They have their own advantages and disadvantagesif they were used alone in teaching. In this study, we try to integrate PBL, CBLand TBL in biochemistry and molecular biology teaching. All the students of two classeswere randomly divided into 10 groups. Each group included 9-10 students and adoptedthe integrated mode in teaching of metabolism unit. Survey and Analysis of students’ scores were used to assay teaching effect of the integrated mode. Compared with the nonintegratedteaching students, the integrated mode improved the average score of *** analysis showed that the integrated teaching students present better performancein comprehensive examination questions, which means the students’ comprehensiveability was being built and the ability was being improved. The survey displayedthat most students adapted to the novel teaching mode and they changed from passive toactive. Moreover the integrated mode significantly enhanced students’ consciousnessand learning initiative, and improved their problem- solving ability, even communicationskills and collaboration. Our Preliminary results demonstrated that the integrated applicationof PBL, CBL and TBL is better than traditional lecture-based learning(LBL) in teachingof biochemistry and molecular biology.
