摘 要：§1 Introduction The Operations Research Society of Japan (ORS J) was founded by 305 members in *** then the numher of members has increased steadily, and it had 2617 regular members and342 student members along with 164 corporate memberships as of July 1st 1997, when ORSJcelebrated its 40th anniversary. Unfortunately the memberships have slightly decreased since thattime, and as of February 28, 2004, it had 2262 regular members, 265 student members as well as91 corporate memberships. This tendency may be due to the depression of Japanese economy.
