A Systematic review Protocol of Chinese Medicinal Herbs for Experimental Chronic Prostatitis

摘      要:Background Chronic prostatitis (CP) involves inflammation of the prostate gland and commonly affects men of all ages, in most cases, the cause is unknown, both clinical doctors and patients do not have satisfied enough with the the therapeutic effect, even, parts of therapies bring to some drug adverse reactions and great economic burden. Chinese medicinal herbs for CP have completed many clinical controlled trials, but, there were iscrepancies among their consequences results, on the other hand, systematic review or meta-analysis used in the field of animal research remainly lacked up to today, although people accept animal research only rely on the assumption that it benefits humans. Objectives Intend to assess the evidence regarding mainly the efficacy of chinese medicinal herbs compared with other therapies in experimental chronic prostatitis using systematic review and meta-analysis. Search strategy We would search the potentially related original studies all over the world according to the high sensitive strategy of literature retrieval. All literatures retrieval were updated until December thirty 2007 and language limited to Chinese and English. Electronic searches include the Cochrane Controlled Trials Register, Pubmed, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, China proceedings of the Academic Congress Database and China Thesis Databases. At the same time, we will perform the manual search of experimental control study among 26 periodicals related to Traditional Chinese Medicine and the studies included in the refferencs of eligible studies were additionally searched;Gray literatures which are ongoing and unpublished would be searched by contact with the relative researchers who working in the field and medicinal herbs manufacturers if needed. We would also perform additional literature retrieval of the related studies by correlative websites, such as ’Baidu file search’ and ’Google academic search’.
