摘 要：The strategic impact of technology improvement through R&D and export activity has been one of the major research issues in business and economic fields regardless of organizational differences or national boundaries. However, the results of research studies that investigate the R&D-performance linkage have been puzzling. The exact nature of this relationship has been particularly troubling with respect to the different performance measures that have been employed across different country settings. The present study attempts to empirically examine the significance of the impact of R&D intensity and export activity on various indices of performance by utilizing accounting- and market-based performance within a sample of 468 leading companies in the Asia-Pacific region (which were selected from the 2010 Forbes Global 2000: The World Leading Companies). In addition, this study also is designed to explore the major strategic determinants of firm performance measures across countries. The results of the study indicate that R&D intensity and export activity have different affects on a firm s economic performance.
