摘 要:A method based on UV-Vis spectrometry(UV) and vertex component analysis(VCA) was proposed to characterize the processing batch for preparation of prepared radix scutellariae using water steamingIn the proposed method, UV spectra of the radix scutellariae that were collected at different intervals of the processing procedure were measured, then the measured UV spectra of mixtures were resolved by VCA, and the estimated vertex components(VCs) and their variation of relative concentration were used to characterize the processing batchThe results show that estimated VCs have chemical significance with spectral characteristics of source signal when the source spectra are overlappedThe variation of the relative VCs’ concentrations can explain the physical and chemical changes of active components during the processing batchThe endpoint of the processing batch was determined as 35 min, which is more accurate and overcomes the shortcomings that different endpoints may be made by sensory analysis of different operatorsthe endpoint of the process batch that was determined by inspection of the variation of VCsUV-VCA method provides an alternative approach for characterization of the traditional Chinese medicines processing procedure.
