摘 要:While plants can use light and atmospheric carbon dioxide as raw materials for carbon (C) metabolism, most non-leguminous plants obtain their nitrogen (N) resources vianitrogenous compounds in soils. Ncontaining fertilizers were added to cultivated lands to increase crop yields. Minimizing the consumption of N-containing fertilizers by increasing the efficiency of nitrogen assimilation seems to be an effective way to reduce energy cost and environmental contamination. The strategy of introducing a nitrogen fixation pathway into non-leguminous plants was hampered by the complexity of enzymes involved. An alternative way is to manipulate targeted transport and storage of amino acids that are primary products of nitrogen assimilation.
