摘 要:Over the last several years most of the major xerographic printer manufacturers have introduced toners made using chemical methods rather than conventional mix and grind operations. This has been done to improve quality and reduce cost by efficiently producing smaller toners with narrow size distributions. The major types of chemical toner production are suspension polymerization and emulsion-aggregation, which use styrene acrylate resins. However, some companies are using solvent dispersion methods that enable the use of polyester resins, and yet other variations exist. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. Besides the small size, chemical methods also allow particle shape control and encapsulation. Different vendors have chosen to focus on specific chemical methods. Chemical methods are expected to play an increasing role in toner production in the future.
