摘 要:正INTRODUCTION: Few animals are as well known to the medical community as the Wistar rat. Numerous diseases models are created from this particular species and many of these are genetically engineered to simulate human disorders. However, while there are a number of studies on the knee ligaments in humans and rabbits, there is little literature concerning the Wistar rat. Our group recognizes the potential in the current Wistar models for studies of diseased conditions such as hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and rheumatoid arthritis and their effects on ligament health. The purpose of this study is to develop a baseline model for future studies of these Wistar disease models.
