摘      要:This paper summarizes an approach for evaluating the effectiveness of projects and programs designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from ruminant *** the principal greenhouse gas produced by ruminant livestock, methane is the focus of this *** livestock produce methane through a normal digestive process called’enteric fermentation’.During this process, bacteria in the digestive system break down feed into products that can be used by the animal for energy and *** amount of methane produced depends primarily on the animal’s type of digestive system and the amount and type of feed the animal *** paper focuses on estimating emission reductions from changes in animal management *** particular, the paper summarizes the approach as documented in the *** report entitled Evaluating the Greenhouse Gas Impacts of Ruminant Livestock Efficiency Projects(US EPA 2003a).
