摘      要:Information on soil organic carbon (SOC) storage under the shifting of land uses is of particular interest for estimating the gains and losses of SOC at a regional scale. The present study attempts to study the SOC storage and distribution in the Shanghai soils based on the data of the regional geochemical survey (2004-2005), as well as to demonstrate the change of SOC density during the urbanization process. The SOC storage of the surface layer (00 cm) in Shanghai is estimated to be 24.68 Tg in the early 2000s, which corresponds to the median of 3.32 kg m-2 based on 2 km×2 km resolution. Spatial distribution of SOC is relative to soil types and land uses. The mean SOC densities of main soil types range from 2.19 to 3.63 kg m-2 , and those of main land uses range from 1.93 to 3.90 kg m-2 , respectively. The recent study on SOC storage and distribution is a new contribution to soil carbon inventories, which may contribute to base data to evaluate regional carbon sequestration potentials and to understand carbon circulation.
