Spatio-temporal dynamics of neural activities involved in empathy for pain:a combined ERP and sLORETA study

摘      要:正Objective Recent evidence from functional MRI studies suggests that the perception of pain in others activates similar neural circuits as the first-hand experience of pain,especially in regions involving the affective-motivational dimension of pain,such as the insula and the anterior cingulate *** aim of the present study was to investigate the spatio-temporal dynamics of neural activities involved in empathy for *** Event-related brain potentials(ERPs) were recorded in healthy male adults while they were viewing pictures either containing painful or neutral information and performing a pain judgment task that required attention to pain cues in the stimuli or a counting task that withdrew their attention from these *** The ERP results showed early differentiation between painful and neutral stimuli over the frontal lobe at 180 ms after sensory stimulation.A long latency empathic response was observed after 380 ms over the frontal-central-parietal regions,which was more salient over the left than right *** sLORETA source analysis results of the contrast between judging painful pictures and counting neutral pictures,presumably reflecting activities involved in empathic processing,showed increased activation in parahippocampal gyrus and amygdala from 200ms to 275 ms,the primary somatosensory cortex(S 1) and secondary somatosensory cortex(S2) from 475 ms to 665 ms,left insula from 515 ms to 655 ms,and ACC and PCC from 605ms to 635ms after *** identify the role of task demand in producing neural response related to pain empathy,we made another sLORETA analysis contrast between judging and counting painful pictures,increased activation was observed in bilateral S1 and S2 from 475 ms to 685 ms,and ACC from 595ms to 635ms after *** The ERP results support a model of empathy for pain consisting of early emotional sharing and late cognitive evaluation,while the source analysis results show spatio-temporal d
