Microgravity fluid mechanics computation about surface tension propellant management devices

摘      要:正The propellant tank is a big component in space crafts. It is used to store and control propellant. In a large spacecraft, the mass of propellant is more than 60% of the total weight of the spacecraft, and propellant has become a major aspect in which will influence the spacecraft control. Because the spacecraft is in weightless or low gravity environment, it causes a big trouble in propellant management and supply. Surface tension propellant management device (PMD) is usually used to manage propellant in low gravity conditions. And among them, vane and sponge are two kinds of PMD with simple configuration and high reliability, but the fluid computation about them is relatively complex. Mathematic modelling and computation about the fluid and refilling of the vane of the sponge in low gravity condition is performed for the newly designed large capacity surface tension propellant tank, which is the basis for the propellant design.
