摘      要:This paper briefly discusses the existing problems in current teaching and learning in senior English reading class. It highly stresses that the constructivist-based reading teaching is an effective way to solve these problems. The following contents are also explored: the main constructivist reading teaching methods in FLT abroad, the constructivist views of teaching, learning and reading, and the current research on English reading teaching based on constructivism in China. The key part of the study is that some constructivism-based reading teaching activities suitable to the local environments for senior English reading instruction are designed and applied to the practical senior English reading classroom. In order to test the effectiveness of the application of the constructivist reading teaching activities, half a year's careful experiment was conducted. The results of the research revealed that: The application of the constructivist-based reading teaching activities into senior English reading class is workable, feasible and efficient. It could help to improve senior 3 middle school students' reading proficiency, to promote their employment of reading strategies, as well as their attitudes towards reading class.
