ANTEROLATERAL DECOMPRESSION FOR SPINAL FRACTURES COMPLICATED BY PARAPLEGIA

摘 要：10 cases of vertebral fracture complicatedby paraplegia were encountered in 1976 amongTangshan earthquake victims. There are 6males and 4 females, 7 of whom were aged 20-40years. All 10 cases had flexion compressionfracture of the spine: T12 5 cases, Ll 2 cases,I2 2 cases and L3 1 case, 5 had decompressivelaminectomy performed after admission withsatisfactory recovery of sensation, bowel move-ment and urination, but poor motor *** function improved following anterolateraldecompression. In this series, 2 cases werecured, 6 basically cured and 2 unchanged. Priorto anterolateral decompression, complete para-plegia was noted in 2 cases and partial para-plegia in 8. 3-4 months after operation, 3 caseswere discharged without crutches, 4 with oneor a stick, 1 with 2 crutches and 2 were un-changed.
