摘      要：The in vitro anti-viral activity of garlic extract (GE) onhuman cytomegalovirus (HCMV) was evaluated by tissue cul-ture,plaque reduction and early antigen assay.A dose depen-dent inhibitory effect of GE was evident when GE was appliedsimultaneously with *** the effect was stronger whenthe monolayers were pretreated with *** addition,theanti-viral effect of GE persisted long in infected cells after itsbeing removed from the culture *** strongestanti-viral effect of GE was demonstrated when it was *** is therefore recommended that clinical use ofGE against HCMV infection should be persistent and theprophylactic use of GE is preferable in immunocompromisedpatients.
