摘 要:Equality in Politics China's Constitution stipulates that men and women have equal political rights. Women accounted for 12 percent of the deputies to the First National People's Congress (NPC), held in 1954. In 2008, when the 1 lth NPC was convened, women accounted for 21.33 percent of the deputies. The percentage of women members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) increased from 6.06 percent, in 1949, to 17.7 percent in 2008. Of the total civil servants, in 2008, more than 40 percent were women.
