Strategies of Numbers Interpreting in News

摘      要：As is known to us , numbers interpreting is much difficult for interpreters in the process of interpretation that many interpreters become jittery at the mention of numbers. By focusing on financial report, business news and sports news, this thesis analyzes the difficulties of numbers interpreting and the special difficulties, coping techniques interpreting numbers in news interpreting. The difficulties of numbers interpreting includes the pressure of great changes of information, the differences of numbers expressions between Chinese and English, and countable nouns and uncountable nouns in English. Because of the fast speed of news report, concentration and accuracy of numbers, the author summarizes the coping strategies as follows： training to adjust to the fast speed of news report; understanding the context of news and accumulating the special expressions of numbers in news. As a postgraduate student majoring in interpretation, the author has summarized some of the special words and expressions of numbers in financial report, business news and sports news on the basis of personal experiences and related data.
