摘 要:The distribution of folliculo-stellate cells (FSC) and their topographical relationship to endocrine cells (EC) were quantitatively analyzed in 59 human pituitaries immunostained with the anti-S100 serum. Two types of S100 positive cells appeared in the human adenohypophysis, namely stellate cells and follicular cells. FSC were not evenly distributed throughout the adenohypophysis, but significantly more dense in the central mucoid wedge than in the lateral acidophilic wings. Although FSC were spatially related to EC of every type, corticotrophs were most closely related to EC, while lactotrophs seemed relatively independent of EC. Aging as well as sex difference didn’t influence the distribution density of FSC in the acidophilic wing and the FSC-EC relationship, but a minor sex difference was found for the FSC density in the mucoid wedge.
