摘      要：This is a bief analysis of the natural conditions of the the grassland resources in China, thespecial features of sylvo—pastoral systems, and the prospects for the development of both. The feed valueof woody plants, and the state of their utilization for sylvo—pastoral systems is specified in the present productionalmodel in China. The discussion is mainly concerned with the characteristics and significance ofshrub forest for forage. This paper stresses the all —round development of agriculture, forestry and animalhusbandry, and discusses the concrete forms of sylvo — pastoral systems including utilization of branchesand leaves, grazing and grass sowing in forestland, development of shrub forests for forage and cultivationof arbor—tree species in the form of shrub.
