摘      要：One of the antihypertensive drug widely used clinically is guanethidine,[2-(octa-hydro-1-azocinyl)-ethyl]-guanidine *** lowers the high blood pressure slowly butpersistently,and lacks the side effects common to ganglion-blocking *** onthe structure-activity relationship disclosed that the 8-membered ring might be displacedby other appropriate rings without loss of activity,the side chain had to be 2 carbon atomsnot bearing any substituents,and the terminal guanidine-moiety might be replaced byamidine or amidoxime without reducing the hypotensive effect.
