摘 要:A series of mountain systems and intermountane basins extend across the northern and western China. The largest of the basins are those of Tarim, Junggar and Qaidam. A thick sedimentary sequence has been deposited in these basins during the Cenozoic. Accordingly, the region has great potential for the study of the Quaternary stratigraphy. However, information on the Quaternary sedimentology and chronostratigraphy of this huge region is sparse.
