摘      要：英语形容词用作主语补语时,常常有后置修饰语对形容词所表达的意义作进一步的补充说明.这种结构称为带后置修饰语的形容词短语补语(Adjective Phrase Complementswith Postmodification).例如:John seems content jsut to sit in front of the television all *** handled the test tube with care,because he was afraid of breaking *** are glad that you have succeeded如上述三例所示,形容词短语补语的后置修饰语可以是不定式分句,介词短语,也可以是that—分句.
