摘      要:Constant amplitude fatigue crack growth tests were performed oncenter cracked 8mm thick specimens over a wide range of *** consideration of the fact that it is important to determine the crackopening stress for the crack growth life prediction based on the crackclosure concept and that it is necessary to find a convenient way todetermine the range of effective stress intensity factor AKeffin engineeringapplication,this paper derives an empirical expression for the crack openingstress of the material tested in this investigation from the crack growth ratedata da/***,the crack growth behaviour over a wide rangeof R ratios can be expressed by the range of effective stress intensity factorΔ*** is found that the dimensionless crack opening stresses decrease asthe applied maximum stress level *** result of fracture analysis indicates that the transition of fracturefrom tensile mode to shear mode during the tests is controlled mainly byΔKeffand the values of Sop/Smaxincrease with the crack growth transittingfrom the tensile mode to the shear mode.
