摘      要:It was reported in the 2013 SAR conference that the TEA-ISCHAI group was embarking on an international, multisite acupuncture trial and issues associated with conducting such trialswere *** current presentation will provide an update of the trial in *** institutions(Changchun University of TCM and Hong Kong Baptist University, China, University of Technology, Sydney and Istituto Paracelso, Italy) across four countries and regions collaborated on the trial, with the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Societies acting as a coordinator.A randomized, placebo-controlled, patient- and assessor-blinded clinical trial with two parallel arms has been designed to evaluate the efficacy of a standardized acupuncture intervention.A pilot trial involving 40 subjects was conducted by the Changchun University of TCM and showed promising effects of the standardized acupuncture *** pilot study also helped to resolve many methodological issues in our study *** on the results of the pilot study, 96 subjects are being recruited to the trial, with each site enrolling 24 *** Disabilities of Arm Shoulder and Hand questionnaire will be the primary outcome measure, and secondary outcome measures include such objective measures as pain free grip strength and middle finger extension strength *** presentation will report on the study protocol, trial progress and experience in dealing with important issues such as standardization and monitoring of the trial.
