摘      要：At the turn of the year from 1998 to 1999, a 10-member team of Chinese scientists accomplished a remarkable expeditionary feat by trekking 1,100 kilometers over the snow-shrouded vastness of the eastern part of the South Pole Continent. En route, they collected a variety of glaciological data and snow/firn samples on the eastern Antarctic Plateau. Their cross-country expedition stirred widespread interest and won acclaim from their colleagues in polar research circles all over the world.
