摘      要：October 25, 2024 marks the centennial anniversary of the Ocean University of China. The predecessor, Qingdao University, was established in 1924 as a private university, before it became a public university in 1928, and renamed as National Shandong University in 1932. The centennial anniversary is a testament to the university s special significance and mission in China s ocean *** the century, the university has become a national leader in ocean education with an outstanding reputation. From its humble start, the university has grown to have an annual intake of nearly 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students combined and over 4,000 faculty and staff on four campuses within Qingdao and an institution in Hainan. The comprehensive academic program transcends traditional subjects such as physical oceanography, marine biology, marine chemistry, marine geology, and marine technology to cover a wide range of areas. The student body is composed of some of the brightest from across the country, and the staff team assembles some of the finest professionals in the country and overseas.
